Us older fans won't forget what he did for us back in 83 (or 85?). I've liked and defended him since. However, I would'nt want him at
our Club today, I don't think he'd part with much of his money and in fact I agree he's too shrewd a businessman to invest in Charlton.
    It won't happen.

I'm old but I can't remember what you are referring to.

Read the comments from Leeds fans. Not good.

We could also end up with Dennis Wise as he is on good terms with KB. We need investment but there must be a better alternative to this ?

But are not Wise and Jiminez in legal action? (think Wise is suing Jiminez)

    I'm pretty sceptical of this

He's tainted by his connection to L**ds so big NO NO from me. On top of everything else that makes him an unappealing old goat.

Yeah but we're not the mangy old whore in the brothel, desperate enough to lay down for the doddery old 82 year old either GH. Would leave a bad taste in the mouth if Ken rocked up imo.

Great news his family would fit in well with the current board especially his grandson Master,

I can see how unpopular Ken would be, but a return to London would make sense for him. Never believe what you read in the British Press, bunch of wankers. At least he is English, and lets face it we can't continue as we are at the moment not knowing where we stand. Maybe better the devil you know ?

I would be happy if he buys the club and we move onwards and upwards.

Problem is he is 82. At the moment he maybe okay but at that age health can down hill very fast. Not exactly long term.

Just who do people think will be riding into town with a pot full of cash?

    Seriously.

Just open your eyes and have a look around at the investment in other clubs . Frightening.

    Don't understand this point.

I think its highly likely people will come in for us.

Looking at other clubs who have been taken over they have been nearly all saddled with debt.

Despite that we are an attractive proposition based on location and facilities, If rumours are to be believed we need TJ and co to lower there asking price, that is all.

I think Ken Bates could be your Dad GH...

Anyone who seriously thinks that arrogant, rude, self serving dinosaur would be good for Charlton needs their fucking (sorry, but this needs swearing for emphasis) bumps felt.

Preferably wouldn't want Bates as an owner, however if he is the choice between bankrupt and staying afloat i'll take him. The only person i would less like to have and would actually prefer us to go under than see him own us is Simon Jordan. Luckily that would never happen.

Jordan rather than bates. Only Piers Morgan could be worse...

Jordan, Bates, and Piers Morgan - what a scintillating triumvirate. And Dennis Wise as manager....

    Leave off Algarve.

You are 100% correct that he has his obvious faults, but goonerhater has been going Charlton for donkeys years...

The rift between Jimanez and Wise seemed to put an end to any possibility of the latter being installed as manager. But Ken Bates and Dennis Wise are old mates - just imagine the two of them pitching up at The Valley. Jesus Christ Almighty.

I think you've just made my point.

Some people seem to be under the impression that a completely philanthropic "White Knight" will come charging in with pots of cash that he just can't wait to chuck our way - and therefore they are dismissing the likes of Bates.

The fact is that almost anyone who comes in will be following the model that others have trotted out. The club will likely be saddled with debt, and when the cash runs out we'll be looking cap in hand for another White Knight to come charging in. It's like a merry-go-round.

I've no doubt we're potentially an attractive investment to some. I just worry about who these people are and what it means for us without a sustainable business model. And I don't just mean us not having a sustainable business model - we're one of many (if not all!).

What's happend at Portsmouth frightens the BeJesus out of me. That could be us.

My point wasn't stating that a 'white knight' would come charging in with pots of cash. Just that we are/have the potential to be an attractive proposition.

Is the Ken Bates takeover rumour gathering momentum, or has it gone off a cliff all ready?
