    I don't think Boris's persona is an act although he undoubtably plays up to it. He is very self effacing and has been lucky enough to take advantage of the fact that you can make all sorts of gaffs but if people like you, they let you off. Of course he has a nasty streak, but he is the sort of bloke who entertains you!

    My biggest problem with him is that he is a bit of an oaf and people would be less forgiving of his gaffs if he ran or got close to running the country. He definitely has ambitions to do so and you can see a scenario where the Tories could turn to him.
