MK Dons took Wigan to extra time after a draw at the DW. Wednesday were drawing 1-1 with Macclesfield with 15 minutes left, again that was a replay. Watford needed a replay to beat Bristol City. In fact, Preston knocked out Ipswich last night so I have no idea what you're talking about....

I'd say last night was a game of two halves. Draw was in the end a fair result.

No but had a drink afterwards, and the rain that fell really just seemed to lay on top of the pitch. The operation to get the cover up seemed to be quite an exercise, despite the best efforts of the ground staff. I am not qualified to comment any more than anyone else, but the pitch looked like it had considerable work by the groundstaff to get it to the condition to be able to play on for the game to go ahead. So well done, it must be heartbreaking for paddy and his team to see the pitch in this condition.

What a rubbish game . What a rubbish pitch and what a mug in the picture .

Hopefully, the team will realise that they have to be straight out of the blocks against Boro. The game has got some of the rustiness out of their legs.

Also, CPs half time talk and the post match comments will produce a response. Katrien Miere also has seen how limited the team is without Stephens and Solly. Hopefully noted the need for a decent striker to play alongside Yann.

And yet those 5 Championship clubs all had to go to replays themselves and some were lucky to scrape the draw in the original tie too :-)

good fight back from 2-0 down .. all we need now is a team that is up for it from the first minute until the last ... I didn't like Powell's starting midfield or attack .. it seems he got it right from the 78th minute onwards .. better late than never

Let's look on the bright side. It was, without doubt our best home performance since the turn of the year...

Reminds me of a poster I saw on a train in Madrid once. Father and son in red and white scarves, looking a bit dejected. Caption, 'Why do we support Atletico, Dad?'
It was actually an advert for Atletic season tickets, oddly.

As per many posts, the first half was dire!!! I don't know if that first half was down to uncertainty surrounding the players' futures, them not taking it seriously, the furore over the pitch, nervousness in front of the new owners. Whatever it was I don't want to see that again. I can't really add too much more to what has already been said, but my thoughts were

Pritchard - always liked his effort and application considering he came from non-league, but my God, please stop playing him on the right wing. It never has, and it never will, work!

Jackson - The reason why players like Pritchard get pushed out of position. Our beloved captain is done for starting games. His legs will give him 30 mins max, it's fine, bring him on as sub. Do not fuck up the balance of the team to accommodate him on the off chance he can make a late run and get in the box, or a set piece. I know he's the captain, but I believe a great skill of a manager is knowing when to move someone on. How many times did we see Ferguson throughout his career move on some very talented players (I get it was often the result of a falling out) but we cannot stand on sentiment. No more starts for him please.

Church - Started off exactly where he left off against Sheff Weds, which means another performance full of shit. I don't get strikers who don't possess one of the following. Goal scoring/poachers instincts. Pace. Ability to hold up the ball. Granted our service to him isn't world class, but what do we get from him? He's a relatively big guy in terms of height and build, yet he can't hold up the ball at all. He's constantly getting barged off the ball and flapping around on the floor. All he does is build up a head of steam closing down back passes. Anyone can do that. Get him in the gym working on his strength.

Cook - Yes he assisted the first goal, but given that I only ever see him in League Cup games and the FA Cup 3rd round, do we really need to be paying him a wage.

Harriott - Now can this new Swedish midfielder play on the left? Seemed a bright spark when he got in the team at the end of last season, but now reminds me of numerous kids I used to play against at school who play 'Nike football'. By that I mean they could quite easily be on skills school on Soccer Saturday doing silly flicks and step overs to some stupid rap or hip-hop song. It means nothing unless you're at the top of your game like Ronaldo and Messi, and even less on our pitch.

There were others who had poor games, but these were the players that grated on me the most last night. I'm a big fan of Kermorgant, he's probably one of my best ever players for Charlton, but he didn't have a great game. same for Cousins, but then that's the first poor game he's had that I've seen, so happy to overlook it.

Credit to them for the 2nd half. The credit being that at least they tried (the least we can expect). At half time I was fearing the worst, and as Powell said, it was the worst performance in his 3 years so far.

Moving forward, I think the optimism of the takeover has been washed away (not literally) by the pitch problems. hopefully when we Birmingham (our next scheduled home game), positivity and optimism will kick back in.

I have to smile when I see the old excuse about insecurity over contracts trotted out after yet another abject performance. Some people have got the cart before the horse (association intended). Players should earn new contracts by playing well. Personally, I would get rid of half of our squad at the earliest possible opportunity.

How much of the speculation of Jordan Cousins being link with a big move to Everton or Villa effected him last night?

Not quite as good as Getafe's in the same city then:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hcjjRgvnDo

In a desperate bid to build its fan base, Spanish football club Getafe has released a video urging fans to become sperm donors in order to breed more season ticket holders.

The tongue-in-cheek video opens with a fan standing in front of an empty stand under the words: "There's a problem: there aren't many of us." Then the voiceover tells us there is a solution, as the camera pans to the fan's crotch. We next see him in a sperm donor clinic collecting a plastic container. He is handed a DVD entitled Zombies Calientes de Getafe, or Getafe's hot zombies.

The film, shot in the style of a 1970s porn film, shows young women in a room whose walls are covered with Getafe posters, flags and scarves, drinking a potion that turns them into sex-mad zombies. The idea is that the DVD is so erotic that the sperm donor has no difficulty in making his contribution.

In the next shot, a woman is holding a baby, one of a new generation of Getafe fans. The film ends with a graphic representation of a sperm entering an egg and the words: "The more the better." In the final frame the viewer is informed that the DVD is available at their local sperm donor clinic.

    that is brilliant

My guess would be none. Couldn't fault his effort at all and IMO had a better game than some are suggesting.

He got himself on the ball a lot, was looking up to make passes forward like usual. Just had a couple of poor short passes that went wayward which probably stuck out a lot more.

^^^ thanks for the link .. we gave away 2 softies .. decent play by Green for the equaliser

    Thanks for the link, Craig.

That first goal we conceded was a real fluke, their player was trying to shoot into the right hand corner!

I know our defenders backed off for their second goal, but credit to their player for great composure - he even created the time to draw Hamer with a dummy shot, before placing his shot away....... Churchy, hope you're watching - that's how it's done! ;o)

For our equalizer, good ball from CM to find Greenie moving in a good wide position - he did well to finally nutmeg the full back to get the cross in, but no way was he able to accelerate past his man; amazing that no defender came across to cover his fullback - their manager will be going mental about that lol

Irrespective of the opposition Green gave a superb cameo. The other players deserve credit too for getting the ball out to him so much.

But can he do it when he starts a game against fresh opposition? Probably not and he can probably only be risked in a 4-5-1.

Having said that....he should start in the replay.
