I didn't think he'd turned up and Arsene Wenger had stood in! A grey man of calm demeanour, touchy feely, supportive, encouraging and rewarding toward players. Makes substitutes earlier than we have become accustomed to under the 3P's. I have no idea whether or not he's any good for the task in hand.0

My first impression is that he is a useless twat in a nice suit that the players are literally laughing out loud out with their lack of respect

From the first interview, JR seems like an ok sort of a bloke. He looks a bit like a maths or science teacher. Not quite as a dapper as SCP though. But to be fair to JR even if Sir Alex Ferguson had come in it would have felt like he would have had big shoes to fill.1

He didn't seem fazed by what could have been a very tricky first game atmosphere. He looked calm and assured and by his team selection and the way we played it looked like he wants us to play a passing game.
The team lacks a bit of quality for sure but I think more than anything it's lacking confidence. Maybe he's the right man to turn it around. For the time being I'm prepared to believe he is!0 -

Its difficult to find out anything about him. If he did leave, he did it after one season with his local club, the biggest in Belgium and not to take up a better managers job, but to work at an academy! Hardly inspiring. If he is any good, how long will that last?

Qatar = £££ I don't think you go to prove yourself as a manager/coach or test yourself at that level.1

Wasn't at the game but from his comments afterwards and the performance it sounds to me like he knows the task at hand and is fully committed to keeping us up. Hopefully he's up to the job.0

Set the side up well. 4-2-3-1 and it seemed to suit the players in the first half. Huddersfield got to grips with it in the 2nd half and forced us into a bit of long ball here and there. Strange positional sub with Cousins, but hopefully his ideas will shine though in the next couple of weeks.0

Was that him or Dyer. Reza out wide in the 4 -2- 3-1 didn't work but the "2" in the middle did.

Duchatelet was said by some to be the one that they needed to blame but the supporters wanted Riga gone. He was removed, I am in little doubt about that. Riga also left the Aspire academy early citing family reasons. His strength is apparently coaching young players. I find it odd that Alex and Damian were not dispatched along with Chrissy. So far, for me, I gain a feeling that we are being set up as a training camp, with the grey man doing the brain training whilst Alex keeps the fixtures going. He looked smart. Time will tell what effect he'll have. Probalem is we won't be doing too much heavy training from now till the end of the season as we play a game every 2/3days so he'll have to rely heavily on doing well tactically.0

I thought he came across well in the interview I saw - he could easily have ducked the media by pretending he needed an interpreter, but there was no sign of any ego and his responses were respectful and reasonable.
Duchatelet is intelligent and you can understand why he'd prefer to liaise with a cerebral manager. I'm not suggesting Powell isn't intelligent (at least relative to most ex-players) but he has spent his entire adult life in English football which tends to be a fairly 'closed shop' ideas wise.0 -

I thought there was a positive response from the players last night. Jacko and dervite in particular were awesome. He also got sordell out of first gear.

Our OS states Jose is permanent head coach, do they mean permanent until the end of the season or have they told a porky, as he hasn't put pen to paper yet...This guy is in an in-between guy.0

I thought he had a decent game plan, set the team out well and had them passing the ball rather than lumping it. For his first game it was positive, just remember he's only been involved in a light training session. The subs were a bit iffy, but what else could he do? Who else would change the game?0

Was outside the west stand at 5.30 yesterday and Andy Hughes was on the phone to someone...he said it was sad to see Chris go but Rega had took the training session that morning and was impressed with his techniques and attitudes and explained to the players how he wanted it done...Time will tell.0
