Is it live, thought it would already have been recorded.Atletico Addick said:Questions for Chris Powell? He's live on BBC1 11.25pm @LKOLondonSE talking about his Charlton sacking etc.

Very dignified responses to the first couple of questions. Found out he lost his job via phone call on Monday evening.0
-
Or so he says, seemed like he had to think about how he was going to word it...Callumcafc said:Very dignified responses to the first couple of questions. Found out he lost his job via phone call on Monday evening.

Powell giving very PR answers here.
Dodged the question a bit on the pressure on playing certain players.0 -
Dodged the question about whether he was told to play anyone...0
-
Discussed SL players with the owners before they came in. Yann and Stephens were apparently not sold against his wishes, although he says the owners made the final decision... kinda changed his answer halfway through that one. Says it would've been ideal to keep two key components of the side but owners wanted to cash in rather than letting them leave for free in the summer.
CP: "I wasn't told [which players to play]".
Mark Bright asks "last season you finished 3 points off the play-offs yet this season you only won 1 game of the first 10. Why?"
Chris Powell answers quick as a flash "because we let 4 strikers leave and didn't replace them"
CP: "I knew it would be a difficult season"3 -

Swerve! What a great man though.0
-
CP: "It's a new model and supporters aren't used to it."0
-
too polite , i'd have carnted huh man off and said if you're serious about staying up you'd try and fight a bit more to keep your best players rather than wasting money on foreign chuff who aren't up to speed for the Championship

Agreed, felt like the gears were turning in his head. Could've destroyed the owners... We're just going to have to wait til his autobiography comes out after he wins the World Cup.Stig said:Can't help but think he pulled his punches there.

Good to see him back in the public eye, dealing with questions in his usual style and no doubt carrying some mixed motions below the surface.0
-
Will have to rewind and watch again, but while he said he picked the team he wanted to for the cup game, that's not the same as saying he wasn't told to pick a different one.6
-
Powell said he may be looking for a job in the summer.0

This is depressing if i'm honest. Feels like watching an ex I still have feelings over get with some other bloke... He's a gentleman and his happiness rubs off on others12
-
Sir Christ Powell, now it's official! ;-)1
-
Very true.aliwibble said:Will have to rewind and watch again, but while he said he picked the team he wanted to for the cup game, that's not the same as saying he wasn't told to pick a different one.
Says he didn't get to say goodbye to the fans but that he "probably will do" sometime in the future as that "usually happens with myself and Charlton". I love the guy.
Blushed and shook his head at "Sir Chris Powell".4 -
Was holding it together well till asked about not having chance to say good-bye to the fans...then his voice cracked.3
-
The blokes a legend.
He's gana end up managing a side, and eventually, will have a fixture taking his team to the valley, Which will sneak into the top ten "worst days of my life"
Following that, Roland will have a Belgian cigarette.6 -
Need to move on guys2
-
Dave, mate, not even as a joke. The mods don't need the aggro.0
-
Came across as the true gent we all know he is. However time to move on and get behind our boys and ensure we stay up. Legends will always come and go. Good luck Chris1
-
didnt ask any pressing questions like whether he has agreed a severance deal with Tony Jiminez yet.1
-
Really, why? You may mean it light-heartedly but i'm interested in why you would think that. He knows and represents the charlton spirit for many of us and some of us prefer to keep that spirit with us rather than move on from it. Did you never see him play? If you saw him play how did you feel when he played for England? What's to move on from?Beckboy said:Need to move on guys
