There is a Full Championship programme tonight so we still have our games in hand over the others.

Huge game but we MUST NOT let them score. If they do, they'll win purely because of our lack of goals. Park the bus, Jose. Park the bus....pray and try to nick it on the break.

Normally optimistic but have been getting less and less positive the closer we get to kick off

One of the most important games of the season so far. Our defense is solid, our attack is weak, so logic would suggest a 0-0 draw. I'm going for a sneaky 2-1 win. Obika brace to show us why we should sign him permanently next season after they get the first early in the game.
  • Yeovil leak goals like nobody's business - but they can score too.

I think we will score a couple here and win 2-1 and be hanging on at the end in true Charlton style.

If we can stop 'bottom of the league free-scoring' Yeovil from erm...scoring then we should get something from this game

We have only scored 3 goals in a league match once this season.

Hoping our fans don't get nervous and quiet in the opening parts of the game.

A big evening game atmosphere will do wonders!!!

I am tempted to just go back to the car and listen to Radio 4 in the dark.

That's been my social life for years and it hasn't done me any harm.

Got an awful feeling about this. I don't think I've ever seen a side look less like scoring than us.

I am flying back from Cannes for the day - for my son's birthday and the match tonight. I have been up since 5am and I catch the 6.30am flight back to Nice tomorrow.

Failure to win is NOT an option. Don't let me down lads!

    Talk about tempting fate!

I think I would go for a 4-3-1-2 of Hamer, Wilson, Morro, Dervite, Wiggins, Cousins, Poyet, Ajdarevic, Reza, Sordell, Obika - I think JJ needs a rest so I'd have him on the bench.

Wilson has to play right midfield for me. Don't care who plays right back, Nego, Dervitte, Cousins?? Until we get someone pushing forward down the flanks with purpose, goals are gonna be scarce. I really rate Poyet and Cousins but they are just too deep, both lack either the experience or confidence to take a chance and push on. Stephens although had his faults, did take those chances. Can't see us winning if I'm honest probably a draw 0-0. Desperate to be wrong.

I agree Nug - but at home if you can push opponents onto the back foot, you should be able to use your full backs as wing backs and a midfielder can cover them. Then you need strikers to be there for the crosses/through balls.
  • Curiously, we scored 3 against the division's tightest away defence. Yeovil are one of the worst defences away from home. However, these facts may not reflect the way that each team will play tonight. I think Yeovil will be cautious too and it will be a tight game. Whether our decent defence lets one slip by or whether Yeovil's incompetent defence means that one of our goal shy strikers can nick one is anyone's guess. I fancy a 1-0 scoreline - hopefully in our favour.

i didnt know that about Ismael Miller walking out but that is great news, as he was very influential for them the past 8 or so weeks. in the same way i expect Sharp and Macheda to get the goals to get Donny and Brum to safety, i thought miller would continue to score for yeovil. huge news for us that he has spat his dummy out.

I don't care about the opposition. We haven't been able to play 442 well in the champ since Curbishley. We get walloped by Derby as soon as we revert to it.

Yeovil may be no Derby, but I bet we'll surender territory and possesion if we play 442. They'll be much more competitive and pressing than our midfield four. You get to half time without conceding a goal. If Sordell's been training well then I'd start with him and look to bring Reza or Obika on, around sixty.

If we win tonight and results go our way then we will be 5 points off relegation with a game in hand over barnsely and 2 over yeovil and millwall. if we draw and other results go our way then we will be 3 points away from all relegation clubs.

    Its Squeaky Bum Time folks!

Shows what a big loss Solly is as it doesn't allow Wilson to play in midfield (because Nego is dog s***e). The last time we scored more than two at home Wilson played in midfield and even got two himself (Brighton, Boxing Day). I'm all for Cousins at right back but he has been playing well in midfield recently and has been one of the few getting forward and scoring goals / creating chances for himself.
  • This is how it goes.

We win very very ugly tonight.

We lose Saturday, the other results go against us.

We repeat this thread same time next week on CL replacing the word Yeovil for Barnsley.

Repeat until Saturday May 3rd. Music stops. We hope we are sitting on a Championship seat and not flat on our league one arses.

  • Just put £20 on Yeovil at 14/5, that might just soften the blow slightly.

Barnsley are playing Burnley and Millwall are playing Wigan. Not counting any chickens, I think it's reasonable to expect two defeats.

In that respect, you could call tonight a game in hand at a stretch. There is a full programme tonight though.

Our true games in hand are Barnsley (H) and Watford (H).

Cousins at right back makes so much sense. More room for forward thinking players and genuine width on both right and left by playing Harriot and moving Wilson forward. Jacko and Poyet in DM roles with Astrid behind Obika, Reza from the bench 2nd half.

got to get something from this game and to do so I think we have to score.
