Was there any point in staying up?
Call me a panic knob.
I call myself a realist.
We could bring some players IN before everyone f**ks OFF...otherwise what decent players are going to wana join us? (assuming we actually are recruiting)

It is worrying seeing the team dismantled, this time last season we was dreaming of a few quality editions and having a real crack at making the play offs. Now half that team amd coaching staff are gone.
Is Roland right? Time will tell, he risked in January by selling Yann and then appointing Riga. It paid off. Come August the squad will look very different to how it looks now.1 -
No point at all0

This is a bit like when you are doing some building work.
You've ripped out the old walls and fittings and the place looks a mess.
But if you get the right builder in he can rebuild it better than before.
But if you can't find a reliable tradesman or two then you are left with a mess.9 -
The point in staying up was to not get relegated, we did that
The appointment of "who's this bloke" Riga was to keep us up, he did that
it is quite clear to that RD had no intention of appointing him beyond the season end, JR made the right noises to us like "I love this club etc" but its not so long ago that we were losing games to Barnsley and he was clueless as he didn't know his best team, playing people out of potsition etc.
He was bought in for a job and he did it, I think that the permanent job was never his in the owners eyes.
The leaving of out of contract players is always hard to take and the replacements are not on the horizon which is equally worrying, there must be a plan however to sign players and not just network spares.
If we do not sign a goalkeeper, central defender and competent striker by August then your right we are odds on for relegation, in the same way that if I don't have any tea, breakfast, dinner or tea again by tomorrow night I will be hungry.
I don't think your a panic knob your like the rest of us a football fan that wants to know everything about our club and it's plans now, right away. It's a totally acceptable irrational trate and your not alone.
I too am worried but it's the not knowing more than the what's actually happening that is of concern I think, other than Bolton there are lots of other fans having the same debate and some of them are managerless as well.
I suspect this is a huge week ahead of us and if the WC starts and we are none the wiser than we really do have a problem.
Chin up Dave21 I still feel rosier than I did leaving Bramell Lane back in March

Correct, by all means get rid of the dead wood, freshen it up, but not to the point of where no one is familiar with anyone else and we are starting from scratch in building a team.BigRedEvil said:It is worrying seeing the team dismantled, this time last season we was dreaming of a few quality editions and having a real crack at making the play offs. Starting from scratch ...as Chris Powell did? And succeeded.Dave2l said:

Things would be much worse if we'd got relegated, it was a great result that stands up in its own right. There's at least 11 months before the relegation places for the 2014/15 season are decided - what's going on now is pretty worrying but lets not go mad just yet.0

I am not panicking....yet!0

Yes, glad we stayed up. Even if we have a team of Jackson, Wiggins, Wood and 8 youth products the learning curve for them will be sharper in the Champ than L1. It's a harsh lesson for them but we will see. Not all of them will make the step up but those that do will be better for it. Gutted we are losing so many and I worry about who we will attract. One thing I am sure about is that whoever does come in will be cheap and hungry, with a point to prove. Let's hope whoever brings them in understands how tough this division is.0

Bloody hell. Players contracts are up. None of those players was worth keeping. Riga did not fancy any of them in his first choice team.0

That's a very good analogy in my view. We should stop worrying about Duchatelet's strategy and focus on his ability to execute. That's the key here, whether it be in his choice of Head Coach of when signing new players.Henry Irving said:This is a bit like when you are doing some building work.

Clearing the decks and creating budgetary room for manoeuvre could be very positive if, and the if is critical, RD can deliver a few very good signings. It may not need many.
My own view, for what's its worth, is that next season will be another very tough one with survival the objective, albeit more comfortably than last season I'd hope. The positive then is if next season lays the foundations for a much better 2015/16, based on more Academy product and a more evolved playing style.
RD appears to know what he's trying to do. The question is whether he can do it.1 -
Ok if it makes you feel better........'Panic Knob'. Chill out man, otherwise your hair will go grey or even fall out if it hasn't already through worry. Try this mantra 'it's only a game there are more important things in life to fret over'. 'Its only a game etc..........oh and the play offs aren't done and dusted yet, there's still a week to go in May for heavens sake. RD could well be awaiting for the new coach to take up his position plus the outcome of the Poyet and Moro contact offers before prioritising any replacements I don't know but I sure as hell am not going to work myself up over it at this juncture.0

For god's sake, get some bollocks. It's not even June yet2

Haha I may have worded this wrong.
I don't and won't get depressed by charlton.
I'm just saying, where going into this season without a scooby of who's gana be here and everyone keeps leaving.
Would be nice for the owner to say a word or two in the press regarding the vision, the network, as we look like where taking steps backwards.
I judge on evidence, not hope.0 -
Dave we are not going into this season without knowing who's gonna be here, the current season is not over until Saturday in terms of the teams making up the Championship for 2014/2015 and there's 10 weeks at least for all to be revealed. Patience is virtue :-)Dave2l said:Haha I may have worded this wrong.
