Only if he scores lots of goals and can turn on a sixpence, Oggy...1

Just been told we've roughly paid 1.5 million. 99 per cent sure that figure is correct which is very surprising0

Is that 1.5m euros or pound. Either way Copenhagen must make some profit for them to sell. Be interesting to see how Bob sets his team out with the forwards we have Igor with his pace might be considered as a winger or inside forward in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 is he bit too similar to Reza for a partnership.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Just been told we've roughly paid 1.5 million. 99 per cent sure that figure is correct which is very surprising

Interesting that we are paying over 1m for an unproven player, but people were moaning that 500k was too much for a guy who scored goals in the championship.
It seems we are willing to stump up for foreign talent such as Igor, Pete and gradel but not for British players unless they are free.3 -
With Roly in charge I'm not surprised. As I have mentioned before when it's comes to the football side of things, Roly scares me. Eg: Young Pete, Thuram, Nego.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Just been told we've roughly paid 1.5 million. 99 per cent sure that figure is correct which is very surprising
Hopefully he has let the manager pick this player and time will tell if he's worth the alleged fee.1 -
I'm not sure I understand the 'unproven' tag on Vetokele. Of course I may be biased, since I'm from the country in which he's played the last few years. But the Danish liga is decent, he's played well here as well as in international competition. He was FCK's (the biggest club in Scandinavia) best striker last year, is only 22 years old and is still growing a lot in his game. FCK didn't see the pairing with him and Andreas Cornelius as ideal in the future, and they also brought in De Ridder, another striker. Vetokele really wanted to be here, he's made that clear. Personally, I am really excited about this signing, and I do believe it's a great sign, that Peeters has been able to bring in someone he liked (Igor played for Bob in Cercle Brügge).All_Thaid_Up said:Interesting that we are paying over 1m for an unproven player, but people were moaning that 500k was too much for a guy who scored goals in the championship.

I mean unproven in English football, plenty of foreign players have come over and struggled despite having great scoring records in Europe.

Ah, I understand. I hope and think Vetokele will turn out great for usAll_Thaid_Up said:I mean unproven in English football, plenty of foreign players have come over and struggled despite having great scoring records in Europe.

Yeah I hope so too, especially if the fee is as large as mentioned. I like the intent though0

You just said that we agreed 500k for cog and then said we're not willing to go for British players unless they're free..All_Thaid_Up said:Interesting that we are paying over 1m for an unproven player, but people were moaning that 500k was too much for a guy who scored goals in the championship.

But we didn't agree terms did we! We are willing to spend the extra fee but not the higher wages.
Perhaps one of our Belgian or Danish brothers can advise what the wages are like in those countries0 -
That remains to be seen yet.All_Thaid_Up said:But we didn't agree terms did we! We are willing to spend the extra fee but not the higher wages.

Someone said earlier that the top earner at Brondby was on 10k so can't see Igor being on that much.0 -
Someone has already said the top players in Denmark will be on £10,000 per week so Igor will be on considerably less.All_Thaid_Up said:But we didn't agree terms did we! We are willing to spend the extra fee but not the higher wages.

We're probably willing to pay more for younger players, and coming from abroad they're less likely to expect bigger wages.0
-
This is probably balderdash (most of my theories are) I think club announced the fee to allay the fears of the support base. He may already be signed up and they simply want to unveil a small group, rather than individuals. That way they think at least one signing will appeal to everybody cutting down on the whinging. Plus boosting the shirt sales when they actually hit the club shop.1

Trouble is though... the £1m player plays in one of the top Divisions in Europe and played in the Champions League this seasonAll_Thaid_Up said:Interesting that we are paying over 1m for an unproven player, but people were moaning that 500k was too much for a guy who scored goals in the championship.

The £500k player has had one good season... Is 6 years older... and has just been relegated from the Championship so will be playing in one of Europe's 2nd Division this season.
When you compare the two like that I can understand the fee involved5 -
I don't think we are unprepared to stump up for UK based players, but, with FFP in mind maybe we struggle with some of their unreasonable wage demands.
With a boss and chairman (plus others) from Belgium it is unsurprising they opt for what they know best which is players they have links to (it not UK).
This chap sounds exciting and appears to have some pedigree, I would give him a 50per cent chance of success with us.

Where does the fee leave us in seriously reds FFP synopsis where everyone else is losing a squillion on players but thankfully ours are all cheap and youth and have sell on value *cough * Polish Pete1

FFP is a good idea in principle (trying to get young English players to actually play) but it won't be long before the big clubs find ways to avoid, subvert or just plain ignore the ruling (e.g. Man City could/would just pay the fine and carry on unbothered). Meanwhile the rest of us end up juggling higher wages and distorted fees just the same as before!0

Can you imagine how much an english 22 year old with a decent scoring record who is a full international and is lightning fast would cost?
Then look at £1.5m to buy Vetokele?
That would explain it then!14 -
Doing an FFp update on the Trust site v.soon0

So what if we pay £500k of the fee and SL £1M? That would help with FFP. Maybe some advantages to this network lark...1
-
I have yet to find any mention of fee on Danish media but that figure sounds like the absolute maximum. FC Copenhagen have just purchased a replacement striker, 19 year old from Djurgården for 14M DKk which is about GBP1.5 M. They have also sold Norwegian striker Mustafa Abdellaoue for an undiscolsed fee to Ålesund in Norway, but unlikely to be for very much.Swisdom said:Can you imagine how much an english 22 year old with a decent scoring record who is a full international and is lightning fast would cost?

Will keep digging as size of fee interests me.

That would be third party ownership which isn't allowed in EnglandWeegie Addick said:So what if we pay £500k of the fee and SL £1M? That would help with FFP. Maybe some advantages to this network lark...

I saw Brondby a couple of years ago. From chatting to a fan he seemed to think players were/are on League One wages, with a couple of exceptions like Rommedahl.
That would make sense as in our case paying low wages frees up money for the transfer itself. In theory then we should be getting a better standard (guffaw) of player than buying domestically. However, there is arguably a greater element of risk. From what we’ve heard stats and videos count rather than being a piece of a jigsaw and dressing room. If this is a Peeters signing though, as it looks… Everyone should be a winner, touch wood.
That is unless he has a great season and is shipped off to Liege.0 -
How about a Welsh international , 24 years old , better than 1 in 2 goal average for the u-21s, terrific work ethic and had made over 150 senior appearances with some in the premier league , can't kick a ball for love nor moneySwisdom said:Can you imagine how much an english 22 year old with a decent scoring record who is a full international and is lightning fast would cost?

Cost £0 last season the one and only spongefoot7 -
Looks like we have our new number 9.
22, lightening quick, good scoring record, full international.
From the youtube video, he looks to be really clinical in the penalty box - just what you want from your striker.0 -
Just need some decent service for him now.1
