I have flashback of joe Piggott running onto a loose ball with no player near him and putting the ball out for a throw
Very unfair, Chris Powell's instructions to Joe that day were ' go on and make a nuisance of yourself '. Extremely unprofessional on the lad's big chance, resulting in Joe rushing all over the pitch instead of concentrating upon being where he could hurt the opposition. I was always critical of CP's tactical thinking, and I remain so. Not many Managers wait until the 88th minute so introduce subs when they are 2-0 down.

I notice that Big Bob is very aware of the importance of this game, and I will arrive with full confidence.0

He should never have been given his full debut, live on TV and Vs the neighbours.0 -
How is him being incapable of controlling a ball down to Powell telling him to make a nuisance of himself (which surely is what all strikers should be looking to do)?!Granpa said:Greenie JuniorGreenie Junior Member

It doesn't seem to matter what the circumstances are, and what the configurations, or alignment of the heavens may be, we are almost always crap against Millwall.
If Millwall fans get their handle on Charlton Athletic purely by attending matches against us, then it is no surprise they write us off as irrelevant.
We know that we are much better that what Millwall have seen of us over the years, but I don't blame them for having a skewed attitude towards us based on the games between our two clubs.
I mean I have been going to these games for decades and can only remember about three 'goodish' wins, but loads of miserable defeats. There comes a point when you just get resigned to it, but gain comfort in the fact we nearly always end up higher than them, I can't really see past a Millwall win, same old same old...anyway only a 37-0 win would be able to counterweigh our record against them.
So Bob, there's your challenge, go for 25 first half goals, and ease off with 12 in the second.3 -
You can't fight fire with fire.
But is this the year we fight the spanners with a spanner (bobby)...3 -
Although we've finished above them recently, unless we play in different leagues the following season there's no bragging points, the result in the derby is more important.seth plum said:It doesn't seem to matter what the circumstances are, and what the configurations, or alignment of the heavens may be, we are almost always crap against Millwall.

I don't get itcabbles said:I remember last year walking out the off license by the Angerstein pub as I was setting off for the game, when a lively young lad clad in stone island came in and asked if the shop keep did cash back. The shop keep said no, the young lad said "c'mon mate I only want £50"
Make of that what you will. Too much of an obvious one for me.....could be that he was looking for a 'tonic' that they all decided to take for their FA Cup semi final against Wigan when they decided to turn on one another and beat each other up. £50 being the going rate for 1 of these little parcels
For a shit parcel

A 2-2 draw I reckon, or a narrow Charlton win.
We're all over the place defensively at the moment.0 -

The most embarrassing part of this derby is the fact that I'd be over the moon with a 2-2 draw.Sparrows Lane Lion said:A 2-2 draw I reckon, or a narrow Charlton win.

I'd be happy with 2-2 as long as we equalise in the last minute of stoppage time!BR7_addick said:

Unfair. Here's a quote: "I may not have looked nervous but I really was, my legs were shaking." That was Robin Van Persie on taking a penalty. How do you think a young kid might have felt playing against Millwall in an important game?Addickforlife said:

Really wouldn't know what to do if we actually leathered the twats. Then again have never put much thought into the need to due to our record against the fucktards...cabbles said:
