Haven't seen the clip so will only be guided by what I've read. Yeah she got stick. Rightly so. There is a big difference between being angry and being threatening. It sound like someone was just telling her what most of us want to say to her. If you wanna hold the position she does at a club that has gone through what we have this past week, then travel home with the fans are a humiliating drubbing expecting to sing a few rounds of Valley Floyd Road, like you would on a day out, you're either naive, stupid or simply don't understand what football means to the fans. Just because she is female, doesn't mean she shouldn't hear a few home truths. Look at Karen Brady, I bet your bottom dollar she would have sat and taken a whole heap of shit, because she gets it. Even bloody delia smith gets it! If you want to be woman in charge of a professional club, genuinely good luck. No reason why a woman couldn't be a success......but learn to take the rough with the smooth.

I suspect Katrien does get it. It's RD who doesn't, or doesn't care.

I doubt very much that Curbishley applied. He said on Sky that he was pretty sure they had somebody lined up but if the club wanted to talk to him he would talk. That is inviting an approach, not applying. Being a lawyer, she shouldn't have said who applied (if she did - I haven't seen video clip) as well.

On a related note, it's the fact that Luzon to Charlton was leaked in the Israeli press —remember, we were given the nod by our Israeli correspondent, whose credentials were crossed checked by our very own Czech Intelligence Department—a couple of weeks before, whilst Peeters was still in the job, that puts a big dent in the official Staprix NV version of events.

Someone needs to do a proper timeline of events, now that we have the benefit of hindsight.

She states in the video that he applied.

Would be a question I would like to see put to him now.

  • I think she is struggling to see the difference between an application and an interview to be honest.

or perhaps (apologies, couldn't resist a perhaps) a sky sports interview and an application?
  • as she says to that guy, she has told us the truth but no one believes her so we should just move on.

personally, i am just going to pretend that this week didnt happen and we wake up in a world where guy luzon is a good coach.
  • If the 'men' on the train were anything like some of the morons I had the displeasure of being near during the match today then I wouldn't blame her for resigning immediately.

The performance of the players was deeply disappointing but, good god, I felt like I was on a Millwall away day for most of game. When you pay money for a Charlton match you know once a season it's going to be painful. But to be surrounded by utter knob heads for 90 minutes is the memory that lives with me and has turned me off football a little. Hated that.

Come to Boro in a few weeks' time, mate.

Won't be any problems there from "the few"

  • I bet she's sat there thinking 'I preferred it when they just made endless Kleenex gags'...

I imagine she's opened a bottle of something decent and is watching a richard curtis romcom to take her mind off it.
She'd be mad to be on here just now.

I hate it when people constantly misuse the term "embarrassing" on this site and elsewhere to describe anger, frustration, disappointment etc over a football result.

But I tell you what is embarrassing is grown men bringing a women close to tears on a train and other grown men defending that.

Also worth noting that our last CEO didn't bother attending away matches. KM travels up and down the country to watch the team. #cafc

    @JimmyStone_ yeah !! So what . She's a nobody just a mouthpiece for Duchatalet .

@MartTheTaxi Given what's happened you're entitled to think that. Worth knowing she cares though. One of the hardest workers at the club.

    -------------

I really hope she is successful. I think it has been clear to see that she cares from the moment she joined CAFC. She just needs to stop being pissed about by people above her.

Can't be arsed to read all the comments, and am trying hard not to be personal or rude, but I think many here should take a long hard look at themselves and realise they are wrong. There is no justification for being rude and threatening. Defending this type of behaviour is just as bad as acting that way in the first place.
    A sad day.

  • Nobody was rude or threatening, stop blowing it out of proportion. The guy was a bit drunk and a bit loud, but in my opinion he was respectful, I certainly heard nothing that was rude. He may have said that he thinks she's lying and he is entitled to say that with all the info that has come out. What he said was fair comment.

I'm pretty sure you'd find it unacceptable if I questioned your professionalism WCA
  • If I had cocked with communication et al like the club have this week, I'd not only be happy to have my professionalism questioned, I'd hold my hands up. I run an imports/exports business and the relationships I have with my customers are what makes the business successful.

Probably just as well Katrien is a woman.

Imagine if it had been a 30 year old Belgian male CEO on that train. Might have led to more of a punch - up than was allegedly going on in the dressing room under Big Bad Bob.

I haven't seen the video so can't really comment further.

It seems a few men are unaware that a lightly built woman might feel physically threatened when a large loud and drunk man is angrily and aggressively looming above her and shouting. This type of behaviour is scary guys and It should stop.
    P.S. I think I disagree with me.

I love you as a poster @stilladdicted‌ but you are bang wrong there in about a thousand different ways
  • I just watched the video. This is why I like my car and the company of a few friends, I don't have to listen to loud men who know everything about everything but in reality can only repeat the same fact over and over until all around go quiet.
I thought the CEO handled the conversation quite well. I'm not sure what the 34 year old man wanted to hear apart from his own voice and an agreement of his point of view (few would agree Paul Jewell is the answer to getting us to the promised land). He was probably correct about today's performance but he cant really comment on that as he walked out at half time apparently. Why didn't he get an earlier train back home? Maybe he just wanted to soak up a miserable atmosphere.
Football is full of people with opinions but very few people get paid for their opinion, for obvious reasons. Venting your spleen to a stranger on a train, (I doubt Katrien Meire knows this man), will never win an argument or change the direction of events.

Questions don't need to be asked, anyone with a small amount of hindsight can work out what has gone on. Anyone with a little imagination can see how the club is run and with a little foresight most can hazard a guess on how bad this season can turn out.

Love you too , explain why I am wrong please, two or three ways will suffice:-) but I think I might correct myself first as the supporter was actually more respectful than I had been willing to admit. So I retract some comments.
But I reserve the right to be offended when facts interfere with my prejudices.

I find it even more embarrassing in 2015 that people have to appear to "stick up for women".
The Suffragette Movement, Women's Lib, The Labour Party, The Liberal Party etc have fought for years for equal women's rights and macho comments like this just put our struggle backwards again.
Abuse, whether physical or verbal is wrong, but to go on about "grown men" bringing a women(sic) "close to tears" does NOT help our struggle.
Abuse is abuse is abuse but gender, sexual orientation, race or creed should not be highlighted in 2015.
