Were on 146/3 off approx 25 with 2 new batsmen. Commentators said game had turned to the Windies, little did they know.

Also check out Taylors catch, one handed along the boundary to dismiss Miller.
Sadly his colleagues dropped a few dolly's.

Can the Windies win? Think they need a batting hurricane rather than just a Ga(y)le.

Amazing hitting from AB, 60 off his last 14 balls. England would be buzzing to get that off the last 10 overs.

    16-2 ouch

  • The West Indies suicidal tendencies re-surface. Having lost Carter to the last ball of an over by Morkel, Smith decides not to have a look at the first ball of Tahir's spell and holes out at long on.

    52-4

    53-5
  • Make that 53-5. Simmons LBW to Tahir even though the batsman seems to get an inside edge - and doesn't bother to review it!!!

    Three wickets in six balls.

Biggest margin of victory in ODIs currently 290 runs

Edit - no "seems to" as it is a massive inside edge. What the hell was Simmons thinking or for that matter Ramdin at the other end?
  • There does seem to be a strange way in which the fixtures are arranged. West Indies will have now played four games whereas the likes of Australia have played just two of which one was rained off.
  • 63-6
  • 63-7 I did say they can be suicidal.

Holder out for a very good 56 (48)
  • 151 all out. S A win by 257 runs.

Whilst not beating that record, this win is the largest in W C history.

Quite possibly would have been the record if SA had reviewed an lbw

Edit - it actually equaled the record. The other time was when India beat those giants of one day cricket, Bermuda - 413 v 156.
  • Other stats:

ABV today - 2nd fastest WC century

ABV today - fastest ever ODI 150 (64)

    ABV now holds fastest 50, 100 & 150

408-5 is 2nd highest total in WC & 10th overall in ODI

408-5 is highest ODI total in Australia

    S A scored 261 off last 20 overs, 150 off last 10 and 96 off last 5

Jason Holder became the first bowler to concede 100 runs in 10 overs in a W C match

261 from the last 20 overs is unbelievable.

    261 would've been a decent 50 over score only 15 years ago!

96 off last 5 is shocking.

The last three overs actually went for 78, Holder bowling two of them which went for 64 in total - that has to be some sort of record for two consecutive overs bowled in a spell.

Perhaps if he wasn't captain, having bowled an eight ball over and gone for 34, he wouldn't have been given the opportunity to bowl the last over of the innnings!
  • Thinking about it, the irony is that any 5th team "pie chucker" wouldn't have gone for as many as Holder in those two overs because ABV probably wouldn't have been able to get the momentum and power necessary to clear the ropes that many times!
