£20m and a seasons loan back to us!vff said:0 -
Just looks like they have been reading Charlton Life. No real confirmation as far as I am concerned.0

I really hope that you are right. I would love to see Gomez develop as a centre back at Charlton; and for Charlton to keep our best players. Charlton is not going to compete with the thousands of freebie and cheap tickets at the Olympic Stadium if it does not show ambition. A mediocre team ain't going to cut it.JakeCAFC_94 said:3 -
I hear Barcelona, Madrid and Bayern Munich are all keen too.5

I won't believe any of these rumours until they are corroborated by the players dad on something reliable, like, Twitter.....5

Be something if he went to one of these and proved himself to be a top player.Athletico Charlton said:I hear Barcelona, Madrid and Bayern Munich are all keen too.
We could pride ourselves in discovering/developing him, would much rather see more of him here but realistically we know he'll move on sometime.

Sorry just posted this on another thread.
From as close to the horse's mouth as is possible.
Will sign for a top four club for 8-10 million
Loaned back to us next season

Will take that. Would only expect to have him for one more year anyway. Get 10million for that one more year is a no brainer.sirjohnhumphrey said:Sorry just posted this on another thread.

Depends what the "add ons" are in that amount1

How close is possible? From his family?0

It also depends where that £8m goes.
Hope SL don't need a couple of decent strikers...2 -
I still don't think 10 mill is enough, but anyway the money is unlikely to go into the Charlton 'pot' (unless to fund losses).
If it is 'top four' then lets have a flippin auction.
15 million now, plus 25% of sell on profit.
Year loan back.
Appearance money at 10, 40, 60, 100 games for new club.
Bonus for any international appearances.
Bonus for any trophies won by the new club, Gomez or not.
Bonus for European qualification Gomez or not.
Home pre season friendly on the Saturday before the first game, 'top four' club to field all their stars, and pay all their expenses for the match.
.....for starters, I mean Man City have offered all that already, less the friendly, so a voice in my head tells me.

Or we could keep him at the Valley for an extra year anyway and sell him for 15 million next summer?3

Sold and loaned back seems very likely.0

To replace JT when he stops playinf0

Strongest source you could get really. Wouldn't mention which is the likeliest club though. Deal will be drawn up and thrashed out to willing partieshudson-son-son said:How close is possible? From his family?

Should have played today rather than Dads army as our back 2 CB's.3

It would be crazy to sell Joe now.
One of the big pluses of RD's takeover was presented as the ability to hold onto young players until we can realise their true value. Well, here is the first test of that.
Manchester City paid £42 million - yes, £42 million - to Porto for the young French centre half, Mangala. Standard previously sold him and another player, Steven Defour, for a combined fee of £11.4 million. I don't know what the split was but, whilst it was probably a good fee for a 19 year old, it pales in comparison with Porto's £42 million.
Let's hope that we can hold our nerve. Maybe RD will even be attracted by what the top two have achieved this year (e.g. Watford's decision to turn down Leicester's £8 million bid for Deeney). Hope springs eternal.7 -
Players sold to cover losses. It will be very disappointing to sell our best and most promising player. 8 million is a drop in the ocean to the premiership clubs. Charlton need to get to the premiership and get full value like Southampton are doing with their Academy talent. They also need the Academy talent to get to Premiership. Charlton are not going to get there if we sell all our best players.
Looking at Johnson and Tel Ben Haim today and Charlton need centre backs with pace. Gomez has it. How much is it going to cost to get a decent centre back with pace as a replacement ? It will be very disappointing if Gomez is sold which is effectively on the cheap.
How are we going to keep our best players or attract quality players if the club is showing no ambition ? How are Charlton going to compete for supporters from WHU Olympic stadium / big TV Payments if the team is going nowhere and does not get to the Premiership ?6 -
So Andy Delorts dad gave you this information? Nothing like speculating and trying to pass it off as having inside information.sirjohnhumphrey said:

Buying Charlton is beginning to look like a good deal.
