Didn't Stanley Matthews have a cocaine injection in his dead leg before the '53 FA Cup Final?

Did he have one leg higher than the other?

I'm genuinely surprised that more players don't fail recreational drug tests. I'm especially thinking of the useless ones on long expensive contracts that clubs desperately want to move on.

Never understand why such incidents are referred to as "recreational use", giving some air of respectability

I assume it's to distinguish them from cases of addiction.

In a post match drugs test cocaine IS CONSIDERED A PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUG. If his B-sample proves positive then he faces a 6 year ban. Career over.

There's no way a night on bag will improve your performance on the football pitch

Guy on sky sports news read the fa rules on cocaine it's classed under the social drug list, that there is no defence accepted as to how it showed in blood stream, you can be given a warning to a 6 month ban

Should be given a zero ban for something that isn't performance enhancing, and a 3 month ban for being a twat and risking what should be such a fantastic life

Agree. Sometimes football fans can get so prissy on things like this. Should get a ban but anything more than 2 or 3 months would be rediculous.
