Not to use him as a scapegoat for this particular incident, but Pope isn't good enough as a backup for Hendo. If Hendo wasn't such a sicknote it wouldn't be an issue because he would hardly get a game. Personally I would rather see us move Henderson on and get someone less injury prone than get rid of Pope who does have some potential still.
Can't blame Pope too much. Hull gave the defence fair warning when they hit the post and then we let them line up the exact same bloody shot seconds later.
You can blame him if it's the 5th or 6th shot he's spilled this season, and he's not a scapegoat (yet) he's merely at fault for the goal.
No, he's really not. It was hammered right into him by an unopposed attacker given ages to line up his shot on the edge of the box. It's next to impossible to hold a shot like that and Pope took a kick in the face trying to stop the rebound being put in when the defence acted too slow to clear it. These things happen, particularly if the defence give the attacker the chance to line up his shot.
