Like Lawrie, but League One is his level. Done well blagging a Championship pay deal

Don't agree with that. He was one of our most consistent performers in that horrible Championship season where we stayed up with Riga. He was great at right back instead of Solly and him performing as well as he did was one of the factors that kept us up

No problem with your view Kent/GM, let me expand with flippant post.

All players have a purple patch in their career, I think under that Powell team in the first season of the Champ a number of players played to / above their max because so many things come together; a very tight, balanced squad where players were playing with huge confidence in themselves, trust in their team mates, and great togetherness between manager / coaching staff and the squad. Plus it had the confidence momentum from the year before.

You saw last season just how much a player can lose his game when set-ups change, first teamers fall out of favour, managers don't rate players who weren't their signings etc. LW should have been shipped out earlier but I suspect his contract proved a problem being picked up elsewhere with ought him having to take a drop.

Personally, I'd be surprised if Lawrie will get back again that consistent Champ form and will either be a struggler at this level or a squad man. If he dropped a league I could see him being a strong performer and guaranteed first choice player.

    What Garrymanilow said...
He got better and better at right back that season to the point where we didn't miss Solly. And he should have won Player of the Year too!

Good luck Lawrie-couldn't happen to a nicer fella.

Lawrie really did lose his way and I get the feeling that Luzon does not have much truck with confidence players who like to feel wanted. However, I don't agree with what you've said there as Lawrie's best patch was after Powell had gone, the fans were upset, Riga had been parachuted in unheralded, we had lost Yann and Stephens and had them replaced with Reza, Polish Pete and Nego and were were frankly all over the place. Lawrie was good at RM during the nice Powell Championship season but he was players' player of the year in the stormy Riga, staying up in the last couple of games season at RB replacing our best player at the time. Given that Lawrie really does seem to be a player who benefits from a together squad, the fact he turned in such great performances after that horrible January is testament to just how much he's earned the right to be seen as a Championship player

I think he has Charlton in his heart really. The way he played at the Blackpool away game and his attitude towards us after the game cemented him in my list of favourites. As an ex-Addick he will always receive my applause for being a decent bloke. The way he took on his 'now he's alright' chant and accepted it as a term of endearment almost brought a tear to my eye. He'll be remembered as a good bloke. Good luck Lawrie.

I always liked his attitude. I think Bolton will struggle this season (as does my mate who supports them) and if Lennon has the squad tight he'll do well there.

Lawrie Wilson made a total of 96 appearances in his three-year second spell of his career at Charlton, unfortunately he found himself out of favour after a couple of managerial changes, finding himself heading out on loan to Rotherham and his contract was left to expire in the summer.

    Wilson has joined Bolton Wanderers
Despite being released, and mixed views from supporters, I personally believe that Lawrie is a huge loss for Guy Luzon and a huge gain for Neil Lennon's side.

Wilson has great versatility on the pitch and he's capable of playing on the right-wing of defence and midfield, something that will come in very handy for Neil Lennon - as many Championship clubs often find themselves with a plethora of injuries.

Many supporters that have met him would not surprisingly say he's a great guy, with a great attitude who will easily walk through walls for the right manager.

He wasn't a player which was rated too highly when Chris Powell brought him to Charlton in 2012, however his work-rate and obvious passion for the club won over the hearts of many.

A fresh new start for Wilson, and if he is starting regularly under Neil Lennon and gains confidence, Lawrie can prove to be one of Bolton's signings of the Summer.

Bolton Wanderers fans....... What do you make of this opinion? Is Wilson a good signing for the Trotters? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!

From what I have seen from social media he seems like a real nice guy and gets on with everyone. Awful dress sense though!
  • Hope that chair Watt is standing on is steady... Dont want him falling off and getting another injury

Much like Palace and Charlton fans... English and Germans quite similar in many ways but like to pretend they are not.

I do know who Fox is, for Fox sake. I didn't recognise him in that photo, especially as he wasn't tagged :-)
