    Its like when you know your kid has drawn on the wall because their hands are covered in the same colour thats now on the wall

    Just apologise Turkey, go and sit on the naughty step and offer £200m for a new shiny plane

    Russian's seem to be insinuating it may have been some rebels with a manpad that bought the plane down. If it was the Turk's, as they are suggesting, I dread to think what the consequences may be.

    Its very strange... Russia are saying it was rebels that downed the jet, this means that Turkey can agree with them and walk away without any consequences... Instead they're claiming it was them so are getting themselves into trouble.

    Its like Turkey are some small bloke who has got drunk on a night out and is trying to fight some big muscular bloke who doesn't care about them... What Turkey need right now is for some friend to take them by the shoulders and say:

    Shut up and walk away, walk away whilst you still have a pair of legs!!

    probably continuing down the same path it has been for the last 40 years, getting progressively less and less violent and more and more safe but the media getting progressively more and more sensationalist.

    No idea if this is the case in this tragic incident but the Russians have been pushing the boundaries of air space all over the globe. Was it last week that Swedish fighters had to escort a Russian military aircraft from its air space ? British jets are regularly scrambled to do the same.

    This could be part of that policy or a mistake but my money it's the former. The cynic in me makes me think that this is perfect for Putin so that he can continue to whip up a siege mentality at home and therefore have support for his expansionist longings.

    I think that's why Turkey say they warned it multiple times and eventually shot it down rather than accept Russia's rebel story.

    Wonder if thats why Turkey are getting so touchy about the incident.

    If Russia attacks them... they get the support of NATO... means that the focus turns away from Syria which means that they in turn can continue paying Turkey for weapons etc...

    If the troubles in Syria go away... Possibly means that Turkey get less profits

    It's hard to maintain a victim mentality when your plane is 1000 miles from home

    And Turkey isn't small country, it has a population of 75 million

    Daily Mail has put up a picture provided by the Turks... I guess the light blue border is Turkish Airspace with the plane clearly being in its airspace, surely though the Aircraft wasnt in there for 10-mins!!

    I've just gone on Google Maps and its takes about 10-mins to drive that part of Turkey (Not in a straight line either) So a plane would have done it a lot quicker

    It's at least 100km from the closest part of ISIS territory.

    For reference, Northampton is about 100km away from Charing Cross.

    Not hard to maintain that mentality at all when Putin spins everything to suit his purpose. Not sure what you mean regarding Turkey's size ?

    As stated above the Russian jet would be in and out of that small pimple of air space in moments. Could it be that they have been flouting the rules for a while, been warned and continued to flout the Turkish air space ?

    I'd say this poll is somewhat out-dated. A considerable amount has happened since September 2013, most notably the Ankara bombing from a Turkish perspective.

    I'd say this poll is somewhat outdated. A considerable amount has happened since September 2013, most notably the Ankara bombings.
    All these polls are rubbish, and lead to headlines that have no connection with reality. Yesterday's front page of the Sun is one such example. Being "unconcerned with Islamic extremism" doesn't mean they support it.
