Carlisle

Their players have volunteered to help out locals with cleaning and tidying up as well. Well done them.

Not seen that much water since I pissed myself laughing at katriens comments over the last few weeks.
Seriously though, well done to the volunteers.0 -
Goodness me. Still brings back good memories even when it's underwater.4

No wonder lots of their fans couldn't make it today0

Just remembered Johnnie Jackson emptying a bottle of water onto the pitch as the Donny players tried to clear it. Love that manValleyGary said:Doncaster players will sort that mess out

Well done Welling, have no idea of finances @ PVR but sure 500 quid could have helped somewhere0

A stadium I'll always have fond memories of after that incredible day out in 2012.0

Some hope in football restored.
Preston have said they will host Carlisle's home game v Notts County at Deepdale.
Good for them.2 -
Queen of the South are away that week. Preston is 90 miles away. Is there a ban on Carlisle playing matches in Scotland?0

On another website I stated that Premier League sides should be forced to sign an Agreement when they're in the top Division.
If a club like Carlisle (hell even Brighton) get into difficulty like this (talking about if they suffer from flooding etc. rather than financial issues) then the closest Premier League club to them should come in to help them out, the millions they're getting from TV deals etc. means I doubt they'd even feel the pinch whereas Welling a couple of seasons ago seriously suffered when they lost a few of their floodlights for a few months and somehow had to find the money to make the repairs.
Just a shame that the Premier League remain completely silent in these sort of situations whereas the likes of Preston are more than happy to help.6 -
we should all spare a kind thought for all the poor people trudging through slop and slime in what used to be their front rooms .. what a mess4

And at Christmas too... Its ironic based on the Sainsburys ad is almost identical to the incident this year... Maybe they could donate some proceeds?Lincsaddick said:we should all spare a kind thought for all the poor people trudging through slop and slime in what used to be their front rooms .. what a mess

Is there a correlation between the league you're in and proximity to a flood plain / plane ?ForeverAddickted said:On another website I stated that Premier League sides should be forced to sign an Agreement when they're in the top Division.

Accrington Stanley manager blasts decision to allow Carlisle to move their home games
John Coleman compares his waterlogged pitch to an entire stadium being underwater. Not sure if he gets the difference? Brunton Park is unusable for the foreseeable future. Even if the water does recede, it could be weeks or months before the pitch can be used, plus the rest of the stadium is likely to require considerable repair work before it is signed off as safe for matches to take place in.
No idea what he thinks he will get out of this? There's no chance the League are going to reconsider their decision after his outburst and everyone is going to think he's a complete clown for trying to make capital out of another club's disaster.1 -

That Accrington boss is an absolute pratt. This is clearly an extremely unique situation - one in which the 'fairness of football' should probably be put to one side for a bit whilst something is ironed out that suits the people and players of Carlisle first and foremost considering the predicament they are in.
Does he really think those players are having that much of an advantage having to play 90 miles away from home whilst their families are back at a flooded house?2 -
something fishy at Brunton Park, apparently they found 3 koi carp swimming in the goalmouth.0

He obviously has not seen the bigger picture, it's not just the pitch that has been affected!cafctom said:That Accrington boss is an absolute pratt. As we were waiting for our connection Saturday night, all the Carlisle fans were on the way back, true respect to them.0

He really should have thought it through before saying what he did, or at least worded it in a more tactful way.Fiiish said:Accrington Stanley manager blasts decision to allow Carlisle to move their home games

I know what he's trying to say... Accrington are in a Play-Off scrap with Carlisle, their games are being called off due to an unplayable pitch so later in the season their matches will build up and it could harm their promotion challenge, Carlisle on the other are being allowed to play their matches at other grounds meaning their fixtures wont build up.killerandflash said:

Its careless in a way because the surrounding Carlisle area is suffering so its a bit tactless in that respect... In the FOOTBALLING respect that I know he means, he's got it spot on as could be a dangerous argument for the future.
i.e. Barrow is also part of Cumbria and must have endure the same sort of issues that have happened in Carlisle, their last home match was called off on the 5th December, they didnt get to play their match elsewhere?0 -
Barrow is south of Carlisle and not hit nowhere as bad.0

Regardless it has gone down a dangerous line...northstandsteve said:Barrow is south of Carlisle and not hit nowhere as bad.
On one hand you can sympathise with Carlisle as even the best protection to their pitch would have caused the flooding (Same with Welling when they lost their floodlights and played the rest of the season @ Ebbsfleet)
On the other (solely on a Footballing sense) you can sympathise with Accrington, they don't have the finances to ensure their pitch gets the best protection either so will have to postpone matches for this reason, that'll cause fixture congestion later in the season and could potentially harm their promotion bid.0
