Grand National, Aintree, 2016 - Race horse Death watch
Two days in, four dead.
Here's a list of those unfortunate race horses that have died at the 2016 Grand National meeting at Aintree race course.
'Grand' is a misnomer, of course. There's nothing grand in the organised abuse that is Jump racing.
Race horses are bred by speculators with the aim of making money. Deaths are spoken of as 'an unfortunate aspect'.
Jump racing is not sport - it is abuse. Please don't bet on cruelty.
Dene Stansall, Animal Aid’s Horseracing Consultant said:
‘The Aintree authorities and the official industry regulator, the British Horseracing Authority, have sought, over the last two years, to lure the public into believing that equine deaths at Aintree were now to be thought of as a rarity in this modern age. But history shows that, over the long term, the Grand National Course continues to be a perversely harsh test for horses, and one that often proves lethal. Making horses race on that course does not add up to a sporting spectacle, but the most selfish form of animal abuse.’

What you fancy then anna_kissed?6

You don't much like inconvenient facts, do you? You'd much rather your 'Business as usual'.
I have not interfered with the 'Official' Grand National CL thread. ('Official' says who?)
Just accept that the old ways are being challenged, even if you don't like it.4 -
If you are really opposed to horse racing, then start a thread. Why not. If it bothers you, don't read it. It's obvious what the thread is about1

surprised it took you this long to post, what happened the wifi in your squat go down?5

How much effort do you put into your race horse?ValleyGary said:especially from posters who put a lot of time, effort and love into their own race horses.

Does the continuing popularity of the race really eat away at you Anna? Just can't stand the fact that it brings so much enjoyment to the vast majority of the population?
Try focussing your energies on real cases of animal abuse. You'd have support from all of us.10 -
Me. Problem with that?Anna_Kissed said:You don't much like inconvenient facts, do you? You'd much rather your 'Business as usual'.

'Real' cases. So what of the 1,378 deaths since Horse Death Watch was established? What were they? Unreal?0
-
I think Anna Kissed has every right to raise awareness to something that gets barely any coverage compared to the drunken scantily clad women that rock up every year. What's more important?!
If you don't agree then don't read it. It's tragic this thread has to exist in the first place. Surely you would agree it would be best to have no deaths in horse racing.
I have been to plenty of horse racing events and have enjoyed the day outs immensly and had a bet but do have guilt over the deaths of horses esp during the national and wish it could be prevented.8 -
Everyone bets on the national.
Even Anna must do a sneaky 50p each way8 -
I don't own a race horse. What's your point???Friend Or Defoe said:

How many tomorrow, gamblers? Have a flutter. One will be too many. None will be a fluke.0

Yep, I flagged you, purely for the tone and aggressive attitude of your response. No need whatsoever to be fair. Just because you disagree with someone's views/opinions, it doesn't give you carte Blanche (that means free for all) to do and say what you please in such a crass manner. The OP has a view based on fact and evidence (I would say); deal with it without exhibiting stone age attitudes and behaviour that completely undermine your input and credibility.smiffyboy said:Fuck off and change the record dick head

Real, extremely sad, a tiny fraction of animal deaths and not examples of animal abuse. It really does eat you up doesn't it?Anna_Kissed said:'Real' cases. So what of the 1,378 deaths since Horse Death Watch was established? What were they? Unreal?

No room for voices of reason reflecting the shades of grey around this subject suzi. Surely you realise this is a black and white subject and that you are either sexually excited by horses being shot, or are completely detached from reality and want to live in a world where we are subservient to a race of supreme equine overlords. Pick a side suzi or get off this thread please.suzisausage said:I think Anna Kissed has every right to raise awareness to something that gets barely any coverage compared to the drunken scantily clad women that rock up every year. But he's a WUM. He started exactly the same thread during Cheltenham this year and last year, and when Killerkish and a few others gave reasoned, sensible responses, he fucked off. And now he's back, again, with the same tactics. You can see why it rubs people up the wrong way. 'Lets whip horses' apologists was one phrase if I remember. The bloke deserves stick if he wants to dig people out.7
-
If he is just a WUM Gary then the best way to deal with him is to ignore him. Getting people wound up is exactly what WUMs get their kicks from, the clues in the name.0
-
To be fair, I respect the sentiments of the original post as it not an issue to be taken lightly.
But in the grand old scheme of things it's a long way down on my "importance radar".
Sorry and all that, but that's just the way it is.

From what I've read, he posts about a horse death, gets abuse from people who don't agree he should post about horse deaths and then retaliates. He has done what he was asked by avoiding the main race meet betting thread so doesn't deserve abuse. Just let him do his thing and avoid his threads.6
-
Feel like I've been told off by my mum and dad. Sorry.4

WUM Calling Gary. WUM Calling Gary. Come In, Gary.
I presented a tally of deaths during the Cheltenham 'Festival', as I did last year. And lots of deaths to report there were. The mainstream media won't advise, so I did. When the event ended, it was 'job done' and I had no more to report....but the apologists kept on at me. And on. It bothers me not.
And so to Aintree. Different course. Same result. Same reportage.
Shining a spotlight into the murk. The old ways shall be challenged. Walls come tumbling down.3 -
The sad thing about this is that for someone who cares so much they just cant wait for a death to happen so they can write the thread and preach there views.Isnt this some kind of double standard, tears for the horses death and then excitement because i can start to ram my views down peoples throats. All very strange.9
-
spot on killer like I said in the Cheltenham one, Anna will be counting down the days to Aintree.1
-
If a death didn't happen, I'd have no reporting to do. Oh, how I wish that were so.2
-
The sad thing is you really dont wish that2
