  • Finally.... Thank God.... But one year too late....

Anyway, still very glad to see this news. It has made my day. Thanks CharltonByBlood.
  • Probably just selling the training ground-1st phase of the asset stripping.
  • He might not want to sink any more money into it if he is selling. But I would imagine contracts would have been signed if work is taking place, and you can't just switch them on and off - so it doesn't really make sense.

One sure way to switch them off is to stop paying.
  • "We, are, up for sale,
Say we are up for sale!"

Here's hoping we can all have a takeover party in the near future..

I understand the proposed computer system upgrade planned for the close season has also been shelved.

I'd heard that too, although I wasn't sure what the scale of the project was.

  • Could be a win-win scenario - we get rid of Roly and the Upbeats get the balance of he protest fund.
  • RD may have been advised the Category A youth system in League One is just not viable, and probably wouldn't even be accepted. It requires a minimum spend of 2.3m+ a year (I think), this would trump the income of ST sales, so it would rely heavily if not almost solely on player sales - which at League One level is just not the same gravy price wise. Even the U11's require almost 370 hours a year tuition at Category A, let alone the higher youth brackets.

Let's hope he's decided to cash his chips while the interest is there.

I don't disagree and have been told he wouldn't get Cat One in League One, but clubs get half of the notional academy spend for their status back in the form of a PL grant, I believe.

I heard it too from someone who would know but it was a while back before our relegation was as sealed as it is now, it seems unlikely he would be accepted - but even if it was, viable? I'm not so sure. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds, RD is essentially at decision making time.

He looks started by the cat in the corner. The pussy was meant to be on the screen.

  • How long was the Sparrows Lane development going to take though? Surely more than one season?

This is one of his most worrying actions in charge: pulling the plug on a long term development as it's not viable in League One. One could argue that this in itself characterizes his aspirations as not involving a return to the Championship where such an asset would be of use.

Personally I was never someone who believed he wanted to see us drop a league, and believed that it was more due to incompetence than genius. This news makes me question just how disappointed the relegation will have left him though. Surely a more astute plan would be to continue the commitments you've already made - i.e the development work - enhance the academy and officially go for Cat 1 status (and use the new facilities to their potential) when you arrive back in the Championship, complete with the required structure ready.

    I hope he's going.

If he wanted to take us back up then he'd have to assemble a squad suitable to do that. It should be clear enough to him by now that promotion isn't feasible under his model so this might change his attitude. In any case I hope he leaves instead.
