I've never been before but was asked if I wanted to attend this year and I said yes.
I'm hoping it will be a good event.
I am looking forward to meeting some fellow lifers and some of the players.

As far as I am concerned, the POTY event is, like the Community Trust, one of the few things that the regime has not utterly fucked up - for the very good reason that they haven't got their grubby mitts on it.
It's something that the fans do, partly to thank the players that have made an effort (and, strange though it may be to believe, some have this season), partly to socialise with like-minded people, but most importantly to keep Charlton Athletic as our club, not the play thing of whoever might be the owner.
I can understand railing against it if it was run by the regime, and if any of the "Senior (allegedly) Management (unbelievably) Team" are there I would hope that they would get short shrift. But it's not. Many of the performances have been shite, and some of the players too, but I feel it is important, in today's obscenely money driven game, to encourage opportunities to interact with players - so that both sides can see each other as real people and understand what is important to them. It's at events like the POTY that we discover whether players really are "Proper Charlton" or proper knobs, and that players learn what it is that make us tick...
It's been a shite season, but the shiteness can all be laid at the door of the regime, not the fans who have organised events like this for years.

If you don't like it fine but please accept that some people have put a lot of work into making the event happen and did so for fellow fans of the club. I've never been myself but glad it's happening as I hope we'll get some interesting stories.24

Personally, I do not expect to hear any current squad member publicly express their opinion in the media/social media, because it's not good for their professional career.
However, I am very interested in hearing what they can and will say in a one to one environment. It clearly does not matter (as such) because they have no influence on the ownership of the club.
We'll just have to agree to disagree about the value of the POTY dinner.4 -
