Inside Ronaldo's head, there's a little boy working the controls.

I think the standard of officiating has been quite high so far. A lot of good calls, only shown up by close up video replay. Has there been a red card yet? Cannot remember one.

Overall I'm enjoying it. Didn't like the expansion to 24 teams, but Shearer summarised the pros and cons very well.

Not been a straight red, but was one for 2 yellows

There's been two reds, both for second yellow. Austria vs Hungary (Aleksandar Dragovic) & Albania vs Switzerland (Lorik Cana).

Damn. I didn't watch Portugal v Austria cos I've rather OD'd on football over the last few days, and it seemed like it was going to be a bit one sided. So I missed the nice fresh dose of Schadenfreude when Ronaldo missed the penalty.

    Where is the football?

I think they should expand the tournament to include 36 countries next time.

    Scotland still wouldn't qualify.

Bizarrely, these are the best results for England over the next 24 hours:

    Switzerland beat France
    Wales beat Russia
    England draw with Slovakia.

If they don't beat France tonight though, England aren't better off finishing 1st or 2nd.

Looking at the players who could potentially play for them, i wouldn't mind betting that Kosovo qualify for a major tournament before Scotland next do.

    Like who?

Surely anyone that's represented a national team in a competitive game can't now switch allegiance and play for Kosovo?

Yes, it's a new league, so they can. Januzaj can now switch from the Belgian to the Kosovo squad for instance ...

Ball just broke when a Swiss guy went in for the tackle there. Shouldn't have sharpened his studs?

25 games in and just one has produced more than 3 goals.

This one isn't going to break the average either. Maybe a 90th+ winner from someone.

We wonder about whether Iceland will generate a bit of money for Roland by having a good Euro, but there is a B side. I would imagine West Ham may begin to panic that Payet will be snatched away from them if he carries on the wsy he is going.

I'm glad this 16 from 24 business is keeping these group games from being dead rubbers... but it does feel like a bit of a farce that Albania could be through to the next round having lost their first two games and only scored one goal across the entire group stage.

It says a lot about the FIFA world rankings that Romania have spent most of the last couple of years ranked in the top 10 or 12 in the world (and above England).

France are another average team on the way to mediocre-ville along with the many others at this tournament.

Think it is a really open competition.

Any number of teams could beat England on penalties in the quarter finals.

At the same time if Portugal beat Hungary and Iceland draw with Austria, the same could be said for Iceland... i.e. How can they almost get through having drawn three matches?

I think they all play increasingly similar football, too. Ireland's long ball looks really quaint now.
