The point I'm trying to make is historically we'd miss an easy chance etc,and we go to pieces, we hit the underside of the crossbar against Germany, (was it Lampard?)they go up the other end and score, we don't appear to have the mental strength required, I don't know how you teach that, but Germany seem to always have it in bucket loads.

We've won 1 penalty shoot out, out of 7 , we seemed destined for perpetual failure at international tournaments, we need to get another international tournament held in England!

I think they should scrap replays in the Fa cup and have penalties instead, so players become accustomed to the pressure.

Most players in the FA Cup these days aren't English so getting them accustomed to the pressure of penalty shoot outs could be an own goal for the England team

Maybe, but we've got to try something, because at the moment if England go to a penalty shootout, I'm not confident!

Serves Slovakia right this. Showed no intent and just parked the bus and played for a point against us, just so they'd get third and this is what they've ended up with. Could've gone for the win and got Iceland.

    Spot on.

So far this has got to rank up there as one of the most boring tournaments I can remember.

The Euros used to be the best teams in Europe going out to win against each other. Now it's like watching a David v Goliath cup match in most games, with one side defending for their lives and the other camped in their half trying to break them down.

Even the knockout games ive seen so far have been the same.

Still, more games so more money. So that's alright then.

Got to agree, snorefest for me.

Belgium playing good quick football in this one though.

    This.

Where's the beach balls ? Where's the RD out protests ? Where's the post match sofa destruction ? The French organisers clearly haven't been keeping up with the modern game.

Really frustrating that the commentator can't pronounce Alderweireld.

Belgium really looking up for it. They will smash Wales (although Wales did beat them in qualifying)
  • Athe team in red's defending at set pieces for that goal reminds me of another team in red's defending at set pieces...

Why do Hungarian goalkeepers look like they're having a kick about up Charlton Park?

Entertaining game this one. Belgium starting to look cohesive. Eden Hazard is having a stormer. Hungary are giving Belgium loads of space though. Hungary looking dangerous when going forward. Belgium really should be 3 to 4 goals up by now.

Wales would probably prefer to play Hungary, with the amount of space they allow the opposition. Wales did take 4 points off the Belgiums in the qualifiers so won't be scared to play Belgium, despite Belgium having the most expensive squad in the competition.

I think Belgium are just coming good. Hazard's been saving himself all season for this!

3-0 Belgium. Wales vs Belgium it is. Belgium deserve it, have been streets ahead of Hungary.

Belgium looking better and maybe being together for a weeks has helped them as a team but they still need to play this well against a stronger team, who give them less space.

2-0, great bit of work by Hazard, a similar cross to the one Bale sent over

Actually Hungary have been pretty decent going forward, at least they came here to play football

Hungary have been an entertaining team to watch in the competition. They can be proud of their performances.
  • I'm starting to think the increase in the number of teams could be an inspired move. Teams need to get a few games out of the way to gel and to find their pace etc and now the next round of matches could ALL end up being world class games we will end up drooling over

Commentators have been creaming themselves over Hazard who has looked shit hot against the Hungarian defence who have given him way too much space.

Ouch that has got to hurt Witsel. Batshuai is a very decent sub to bring on.

4-0 Belgium. Belgium are about 4 goals better in this game though I would have liked to see them get a goal.

Fellini tussling with the Hungarian player after being on a sub for a minute.

    FT

All of a sudden I'm glad that we finished 2nd in the group. Wouldn't fancy playing Belgium.

Does Fellani do anything other than foul people? He really is filth.

4 now, I think the Hungarian team have tired too much at the end and the 3 late goals came very easy in the end.
