If true then Roland (in his mind) will have associated the Belgium protests against him as really being against the team performance, and hence Slade, in much the same way Katrien attributes the falling numbers to relegation. Simply an inability to face the truth.10

"Most of the managers that we appointed were managers that had no experience of the English game or were Belgian or linked with Belgium so there were question marks around that. We did well apart from last season when we got relegated and paid a high price for those choices. But I cannot stress enough that we turned a corner in the summer.
We realised where we went wrong in the last couple of seasons and that is why we appointed Russell Slade as the manager, who is well experienced in League One. This is the way forward for us now.
