Rum. And where to get it.

I'll second the Mount Gay XO but raise you an English Harbour 5yr from Antigua if you can get it delivered on time. Doorlys XO from Barbados is also a good bet.1

+1 for Woods0

I drink Bacardi 8 year, as it's the only decent rum I can get out here.

Legendario is a good rum from Cuba. It is very hard to get hold of though. In Cuba they have so may variates - no 12, no 13 etc... made by the same company.

For something a bit different - see below - I've had it and it is amazing - served in a big glass- ice - ice cold coke or diet coke and an orange slice.

I realise that Cockburns(pronounced Coburns), is considered something of a run of the mill product and this thread has of course mentioned some very rare superior products.......but try it with ginger beer and ice....it's the dogs!0

Graham's, Warre's, Dow's, Cockburn's, Smith Woodhouse, Quinta do Vesuvio, Gould Campbell, Quarles Harris and Martinez. (Along with a number of wine and maderia producers).

If you can get it, try some Mauritian Rum. It is really quite delicious. If you ever have the pleasure of visiting that beautiful country, the only things Mauritian that you can buy at the airport is Rum and Sugar.0

Might be a bit of a trot though.0 -

The really interesting thing about rum is that it seems to be moving in the same direction as whisky (or the infinitely superior whiskey). The good quality dark rums are now being produced in single estate or other versions that have distinct characteristics and flavours, more suitable for the sort of sophisticated appreciation for which Charlton fans are renowned, rather than used with mixers to get pissed at the weekend (though I hear other days are available too).2 -
I have just come back from Mauritius and I can vouch for that. Rum there was lovely0

A couple of lumps of ice is the only thing a nice rum needs.NornIrishAddick said:

Then drink Appleton knowing you have won this competition.

Mount Gay is an excellent drop. If I was to push the boat out though i would go for an El Dorado 21. It will blow you away, it's nectar from heaven.0

When I drank I only drank rum as it comes, ice just waters it down. My favourite was Captain Morgan's, loved the stuff. Never really liked Lamb's. Not had a drink for over 10 years and occasionally miss a glass on a winters night whilst sitting in front of the log fire. Oh and by the way I'm not an alchi.0

can't drink the stuff, reminds me of millwallThe Prince-e-Paul said:When I drank I only drank rum as it comes, ice just waters it down. My favourite was Captain Morgan's, loved the stuff.
