Anybody mentioned Demain est une autre nuit by Essaie Pas?
Apologies if it has been mentioned - and if it hasn't then how cool am I? (never heard or listened to (them/him/her/it) mind).1 -
The Wolfhounds have been going for years haven't they? I remember them from the 80s. Was thinking it was the Wolfhounds I saw supporting The Pixies circa 1989 but it turns out it was Wolfgang Press.rananegra said:Hmm, hesitate to comment as I think I've only got one new album this year, on vinyl too, which was The Wolfhounds "Untied Kingdom". Very good it is too, thoughtful angry indie with some lo-fi interludes from east London's suburbs by men who have recently turned 50. (Perhaps I'm their target demographic).

Think they split around 1990 and have reformed occasionally since then, before reforming properly a couple of years ago.Oakster said:

Did a run of singles collected into a CD last year, including the fantastic Cheer Up*, then the album this year.
* Contains a fabulous line about the "interview from hell where you tell them that you've always wanted to fill up empty boxes".0 -

Cheers for the recommendations @Oakster - really like the Quilt album!Oakster said:addickson said:
I'm now seeking out Quilt and Heron Oblivion, because I agree the others were good, and I enjoyed seeing them live this year. Saw the Fannies on Wed. at the Quay Sessions in Glasgow, but sound was pretty awful.Oakster said:Actually thought 2016 was a good year for music - often think the best music is born of difficult times, too many to mention but some that I really enjoyed
Teenage Fanclub - Here (love them, love this - probably my favourite band ever)
Quilt - Plaza
Margo Price - Midwest Farmer's Daughter
Daniel Romano - Mosey
Heron Oblivion - s/t
My favourite this year was Nos da comrade by Peter Bruntnell. Looking forward to seeing him on Friday at Shacklewell Arms.
Heron Oblivion is Meg Bairds new band - always been a fan of hers since her days with Espers. Kind of dark acid/psych/folk - pretty much my cup of tea. Quilt are much poppier.
Also like Peter Bruntnell - didnt realize he had a new LP out....0
