Switched from the Greenwich line to the Orpington/Sevenoaks one this week... yikes, everyones so old (and posh)!
Pretty sure they cloned the same guy to make up everyone who gets off at Elmstead Woods.8 -
Haha so true. I'd spent years commuting in on the Bexleyheath line so moving over to the Orpington/ Sevenoaks line was like a breath of fresh air... Until you get to Grove Park and Hither Green!Oh_Yoni_Boy said:Switched from the Greenwich line to the Orpington/Sevenoaks one this week... yikes, everyones so old (and posh)!

I've been using the line for just over 2 years or so now and its been pretty reliable but the 07:35 Cannon St from Petts Wood is either late 4 times out of 5 or late into New Cross to miss the Overground connection.0 -
The extension is only for 6 months isnt it?MrLargo said:Think this is a good thing, no more passing the buck - http://news.sky.com/story/network-rail-to-be-stripped-of-complete-control-of-railway-tracks-10685031

If the franchise comes up for renewal in 2018, why does not TFL bid for it?0

Well if they've seen that letter then they probably know it's a waste of time.Dansk_Red said:If the franchise comes up for renewal in 2018, why does not TFL bid for it?
Claire Perry, Grayling's predecessor, got a fair bit of stick for extending South Eastern's franchise in 2014, would be an utter disgrace if they got extended again, the thieving shits.1 -
I imagine Grayling's just invested a large sum of money in Govia and wants to protect his investment.2

Grayling is an absolute tosser, and he's playing party politics with the livelihoods of thousands of people in Greater London.MrLargo said:Think this is a good thing, no more passing the buck - http://news.sky.com/story/network-rail-to-be-stripped-of-complete-control-of-railway-tracks-10685031

There's an email/letter to Boris Johnson where he states that he wouldn't support the handover to TfL, on the basis he wouldn't want it under Labour control after Boris' departure from the Mayor's office.
He's an absolute piece of shit, since when does party politics take precedent over the actual population you're supposed to be governing? There's not even any hint of positivity behind keeping the current Status Quo. Has this prick missed the current Southern debacle? Oh, of course he hasn't - it directly effects his constituency in Surrey.
Serious questions need to be asked over this f*cknuggetry.7 -
My outrage prevented me from reading the thread fully, this letter posted by @Chizz is precisely the one I mentioned.Chizz said:MrLargo said:Think this is a good thing, no more passing the buck - http://news.sky.com/story/network-rail-to-be-stripped-of-complete-control-of-railway-tracks-10685031

not if your season ticket includes TLF services it doesn'trobroy said:Finally got rid of paper tickets

To be honest, I prefer a paper ticket. I can avoid a load of that tapping in and tapping out nonsense on the DLR and tube.1
-
I still use paper as whilst it's a bit cheaper with an oyster card, I use the DLR and only have to forget to tap in or out once and it costs me more. Having an oyster card and a memory like a goldfish is not a good combination.Missed It said:To be honest, I prefer a paper ticket. Well yeah. It's a real tough job tapping in and out.Missed It said:To be honest, I prefer a paper ticket. I can avoid a load of that tapping in and tapping out nonsense on the DLR and tube.

Whilst it is not difficult - the DLR doesn't have barriers where you HAVE to tap to exit.ShootersHillGuru said:

The card readers are not always in a place where you would always see them either.
I have forgotten to tap in/out loads of times in the dlr so ended up getting a fixed price (i.e. Weekly) Oyster where tappage was not required.1 -
Tried to use my Apple watch on the bus this morning and looked like a right dickhead when it didn't work first time.
Soon, you too, will be like me.4 -
Where I travel on a bus in London, I wouldn't last long with an Apple Watch on my wrist.Oh_Yoni_Boy said:Tried to use my Apple watch on the bus this morning and looked like a right dickhead when it didn't work first time.

My God, you're right. The capitalisation of 'Apple' was an absolute giveaway. In my favourite thread too...colthe3rd said:

Useless tonight, presumably they've thrown in a bit of extra shitness today to demonstrate solidarity with their brethren on Southern Rail - what other possible reason could there be for this level of disruption on such a mild day.
Feelings of loathing pulsing through my veins, as per usual.1 -
They're trying to scam customers during these strikes. I have a train booked for the 31st and there are planned strikes. But to get a refund on my £21 ticket they have to take £10 of it, so thanks to these strikes many like me will not only struggle to travel or not travel at all, but they are charging us £10 for the trouble!0

Today is my last ever day commuting on Southeastern. Today is an exciting day. Today I'm going to get off the train at Bexley and shout f*** off really loudly at it as it pulls out of the station towards Crayford.
If you see me doing this please don't call the police.18 -
Hate to warn you but my final week of SouthEastern was hell...JollyRobin said:Today is my last ever day commuting on Southeastern. Today is an exciting day. Today I'm going to get off the train at Bexley and shout f*** off really loudly at it as it pulls out of the station towards Crayford.

The trains to work were fine but the ones home were the latest they've ever been so I wont be surprised to see you adding a message on here in three days saying your still waiting for your train to pull into Bexley!!
I dont know how but SouthEastern ALWAYS KNOW when someone is leaving them!!3 -
@JollyRobin I hate you1
