Gutted to hear this.
RIP my fellow Addick0 -
Thanks for posting this here, Henry.
I'll keep it brief, but Pete was one of my oldest and best mates, who I met at Chis and Sid in the 1970s. He and I were part of a group that drank together, went to Charlton together and never lost touch as we settled down and had kids. His whole working life was spent with BT, latterly at Bexleyheath.
He leafleted for the Valley Party in 1990 and might be known to some Lifers as the guy who sold VOTV by the chip shop with Steve Perfect until last summer, when he had major surgery to try to deal with cancer.
It was a terrible blow but he was absolutely brilliant dealing with it and appeared to have got through it, even hoping to be well enough to come to the Sheffield United game, only to go down with a chest infection that kept him away. It's only in the last few days it was discovered that the cancer had spread.
All his mates are absolutely gutted for him (many of them are Charlton supporters), but most of all for Hayley and his two grown-up boys Alex and Connor, who he was intensely proud of. They've all been fantastic through his illness and it's heartbreaking that it has ended like this and so suddenly.

Rest In Peace Pete.
I had the pleasure of meeting him, through his son Alex. He was a great man and a true Addick. Loved his football so much but always had time for his family. Rest well.
Thoughts are with his family and friends.4
