Posting without reading.
One of those increasingly common Charlton matches whereby watching is more a penance than a pleasure.
It would be all too easy to gain the impression from Charlton Life that our bright new manager the Belgian Scouser plays a far more adventurous and entertaining style of football than his predecessor Bald Brussell. On today's evidence that is categorically an incorrect impression. Mc Gee in the Posh goal did not have a save to make and quite frankly could have spent his hour and a half or so finishing his Christmas shopping at Bluewater. The total Charlton end product comprised a Magennis shot glancing the post, a deflection against the cross bar and a Bauer header cleared off the line. That was it. Positively Sladeesque if that is not a contradiction in terms!
As isSlade'sRobinson's way during the first half we allowed Peterborough the freedom of midfield and invited them onto us without offering anything offensively in return. Texeira looked to be the one Charlton player who had bothered to turn up during the first half. Sure enough the inevitable goal came. A clumsy foul by Konsa and a free kick whereby the Charlton defence played 'after you Claude' and allowed Trafazolli a free header from point blank range. Phillips scarcely moved before it hit the back of the net. Whether he should have come off his line to claim is up for debate but no defender offered a challenge worthy of the name.
In the second half for 15 to 20 minutes we offered a little more intent leading to the attacking moments mentioned above. ThenMosesEdwards beat a couple of static midfielders before the red shirted sea parted to allow him a free run on goal and a one on one with Dillon which he duly dispatched. At 2-0 the match was over as a contest not even the possibility of a boring Slade 1-1 to hope for.
On today's form, with the impending departure of a lacklustre Lookman and Konsa, we are looking down rather than up.
The body language of the players was poor in my view with no sense of 'new manager bounce.' I wonder whatbollocksanalysisPardewthe Belgian Scouser will come up with to explain that one away.

Our midfield were out fought and paced again. That won't change until we hopefully bring a few in January.
I can't believe Ajose scored as many goals as he did last season. Not just today but every time I've seen him he has poor control, poor passing and he constantly seems to run away from where the ball is actually going. I think he's a very poor player.
Milwall next up if they hassle us I fear we could grumble on Wednesday night.1 -

saw Millwall at Scunny today they lost 3-0, deserved to lose but not by that much .. missed two good chances before Scunny ruthlessly took theirs
Millwall have little to offer up front .. BUT .. it's a young pacey team and will give us trouble in midfield .. they seem to have good spirit, they didn't give up even 3-0 down ..
obviously didn't see us today, we're gonna have to be at least as good as we were at Bradford to get anything on Wednesday ..
I am praying that our players are not demoralised, not pissed off with the new manager and that they give it a right good go .. it's Millwall, we need to break the hoodoo .. I'm not convinced that Robinson will select a side competent enough to do that4 -

It looked like Charlton played with 10 men, maybe 9 because the formation and lack of movement was awful. So far I can not see what KR has done on the training ground, to improve on Slade. Clearly nothing was working, so formation should have changed at half time to create greater passing options.2

Don't boo our own players. Especially if they are shit but trying. It doesn't help anyone and we need all the help we can get.14

I think that Gregory missed him as a front partner from the start, Gregory had to come deeper and deeper to get in the game .. as I typed above, they were weak up front .. mind you, the Scunny defence was good and solid.
.. might be a different story if a FIT Morison and Gregory start on Wednesday against our jittery outfit ..0 -

Well, what a shambles. Impossible to be upbeat. We seem to have gone backwards again.
We know this owner very well. It wouldn't surprise me to eventually learn that he gave orders to Robinson - with the help of the idiot advisers he employs - to play Fox and Ajose. The former 'cos the owner probably hopes to attract a buyer in the Jan window like Sheff Wed who crazily were prepared to offer £1million in the last window, and the latter 'cos last season's 24 goal tally influenced him to part with some serious transfer money that he now regrets but hopes (by a miracle) that Ajose will again transform into a deadly striker and repay the investment. Both players were extremely poor today, but at least Fox got involved a bit - Ajose doesn't appear to know how to get involved. Obviously these 2 players can't be the only reason we lost, but no team can afford to carry 2 passengers.
Then there's the talented youngsters thrown in again before they're really ready. Konsa made some serious mistakes, but still looked a talent-in-the-making - and he was again played out of his natural position. Lookman was wasted trying to fill a left, then right, midfield gaping gap. He's a very talented striker, play him behind McGinnis, in place of Ajose. And there's young Hanlon who I believe could give both McGinnis and Lookman support until there's a better option.
It's a matter of fact that every Club in this division knows how weak we are in midfield. Hopefully Robinson will be allowed to rebuild this area in Jan window. My guess is that Duchatelet will do a transfer trade-off with KR that may well weaken the team in other areas. Stalemate. Top 6 looks unachievable. Sorry to state the "B" obvious!6 -
As Patrick Collins said it's not the despair that get's you it's the hope and as Voice of the Valley mentioned today Robinson's appointment at least brought us that with his positive attitude and enthusiasm. I'm angry with myself for taking it all in. There was no signs of playing the so called Robinson way with poitive,high intensity, attcking football, which can be excused in the time he has had but what can't be is all his talk about motivating the players, playing for the shirt and working hard.
Too many players heads dropped and too many didn't work back when they made a mistake.
Yet again the midfield was completely overrun. He knows the midfield is weak so he needs to play 5 in there, particularly as Ajose offers nothing.Why drop Chicksen? Why not play Foley a recognised full back instead of asking a centre back to play there?
With 3 away games to come, the Jan window may be too late to put us in a position to challenge for the play-offs, if its not already and Robinson needs to do more than talk a good game.12 -
