I didn't think any of this world make me cry. I was wrong. This one got me and got me good.
Just shows the total extent of all that has been destroyed by that his poisonous regime.
That year we had what is in my view the greatest 'group' of players ever to be at Charlton. Knitted together by a manager who got our club more than any other. The spirit and feel around the club was unbelievable.
I was so upset I decided to ignore all social media for the rest of the day. Went for a day out in Whitstable with the girlfriend and her family. Had an all round lovely day. Then I come home, see the comments from RD and the sadness I felt this morning has been replaced by anger. Anger and determination. We will rid our club of this evil man. Pure evil.5 -
Just read that whole thing. Bloody hell. Got me again. How things have changed..Matt_Wright said:On the subject of the promotion at Carlisle in 2012, prompted by the CARD video, I found this round-up of the day earlier: https://storify.com/CAFCofficial/carlisle-united-0-charlton-1-charlton-promoted
Even allowing for the obvious very different mood of the time, it really highlights the changed engagement/interaction with supporters.0 -
Yes it has. I have only seen them live once in close to 50 years when they came to Australia for a few exhibition games. I have a back room with signed shirts and various paraphernalia that go with me to the funny farm when it happens. I've followed them since 1947 (after they won the cup) as I didn't have a team before. Never ever regretted it. As I don't see the current players live, my favourites are Sam Bartram and Hans Jeppson. I know that this has taken a lot of time to produce, but you have made an old man very happy, thank youAFKABartram said:Strange how every day these videos (covering aspects of the last 60-odd years) seem to generate a different emotion in you.
Emphasized to me just how much an impact Charlton has played on my life19 -

Seriously, when Roland and The Liar have gone, you need to try to make a trip to The Valley. I'm sure there are a few of us on here who'll stand you a pint in the The Swan or other hostelry before the game.
Nug, the cat's got me up for more food so I'm on here nice and early waiting for day 19.1 -

You have to press the Full Stop button on your keyboard for 30 seconds to delete your account. Unfortunately, your keyboard maybe lacking that facility.charlton10 said:

Brilliant video again Nug,
Days like that will never be seen again whilst these people run our club.
27,000 stupid people going stupid at the end, the whole day was stupid.6 - Sponsored links:

What a fantastic game. Charlton 3 Manchester Utd 3. John Robinson what a brilliant player. So many chances created in that Manchester Utd game. It wasn't Jonathan Johannsen's day. Curbs really knew how to pick a decent player from overseas. Shaun Bartlett, was a really good striker. That midfield that included Kinsella & Jensen was a great blend. Jensen really had some flair & artistry about him. Curb's teams always had some real gumption & fight.5

I missed the game, being in hospital having the sight in my right eye saved by the NHS. I got a neighbour to take my son. They came to see me after the game and I asked what happened. My boy said it was a draw. The score? "Nil-nil, I think"!CARD said:6 -
Great game and super players but whilst there was dancing, jumping and singing in the stands I don't remember there being a tea dance afterwards. Plus our pitch was not as good as it is under RD. RD is a visionary, we just need to stop being stupid people and have patience.2

I was there. Amazing game. Remember thinking how good the Man Utd players were and that's why they were champions. But then we more than matched them through desire, grit, heart and quality thrown in too.
My favourite ever player scoring the equaliser going mad is the icing on the cake. Packed out Valley. Back when going was a pleasure.
We may be stupid Roland, but I'd rather be stupid and have those good times back than a genius like yourself with only misery on my mind.9 -
Being in the Covered End, that Giggs effort was incredible. Seemed to go so high0

This is the game that I have been keeping my fingers crossed would feature. My all time favourite. I will always remember that game.
John Robinson - fantastic. A quick goal celebration and then he was he was revving up his team mates and clearly telling them 'come on we can do this, we can win this game'.
Thank you Nug, you have made my day.0 -
I reckon Johnny Robinson would still have been running today if his team-mates hadn't grabbed him. Out of the valley, through the tunnel, on about lap 492 of the British Isles by now...cherryorchard said:This is the game that I have been keeping my fingers crossed would feature. OMG ANOTHER reminder of just what it felt like to be a proud supporter of my club. I was in pieces that day when Robbo scored THAT equaliser, tears of pure joy & jubilation.0

Robinson is a legend. He turned so many matches it was a real pleasure to have watched him play for Charlton.
He was so passionate and knew just what to do to up the tempo of any dire performance. He must have been a nightmare to play against as he really pressed the buttons of the opponents.
This is my second tearful moment.1 -
Still get shivers down the spine when I watch Robbo score that equaliser.2

The "header" when we we're 0-2 down to Tranmere at half-time. He had the grace to admit it "may" have hit his hand, but only after the final whistle.TellyTubby said:Robinson is a legend. He turned so many matches it was a real pleasure to have watched him play for Charlton.

I love John Robinson. My all time favourite player, and that celebration at the end summed him and his passion for this club up.2

Oh for the days when Charlton was a byword for something better....2

I can't remember which match but for some reason I was sitting close to the touch line in the west stand, robbo came on as sub and we were struggling. He immediately put an oppo off the pitch, got a yellow but it all kicked off from there and the match had lit up. He knew exactly what he was doing and he went up in my estimation from that moment on.AddicksAddict said:
