Barely any Managerial change sees a drastic improvement in position these days; Warnock with Rotherham last season was one of a very few exceptions to that case last season which is why I didnt want to see Slade go.
Port Vale and Bristol Rovers were just a follow on from Scunthorpe in the FA Cup with the Swindon result because of call ups0 -

I have a sneaking suspicion that he was KM's appointment, however RD stipulated that he would only sanction it on the proviso that COL joined the coaching staff.
I can't see Robinson being here much longer than 15 matches, and I can see COL coming in as interim for the remainder of the season.
Whatever happens I am far more concerned about what is going on below us than what is going on above us.9 -
This^ if half of the players continue to just go through the motions, we don't have any net improvement in the playing squad for selection by the end of February and COL replaces KR we will be in serious danger of dropping down to L2.0

I am forever an optimist but im fed up about reading post match comments about injuries; Nugent done fine with the injuries; you know what Slade done better then this with the injuries. Its early days but its not looking good under Robinson. MK dons should be an interesting game; we played out a normal time draw with them in the Cup. Lose this time round and I think we are going to get sucked right into the danger zone.0

I think he might be halfway out the door in his own mind too - he'll get maybe one or two 'decent' L1 players coming in, plus a rag bag of loans, but with the exodus it'll just be back to square one. Not seen every one of Robinson's games but like he's talked about plenty of times he's trying to play attacking passing football, changing formation almost every game. That makes a huge difference, Slade generally played a defensive 4-4-2 based around getting the ball to Lookman or Holmes. Not great to watch but the players could play that way, we competed, drew a lot of games and won a few. Now we concede a lot and struggle to score.
To play his way we need a number 10, a mobile, box to box CM, probably another option for the lone striker, at least one more winger (depending on Holmes). Probably need at least one attacking full back as well. He needs a lot of players - will he really get them (and that's before anyone leaves)?1 -
Phillips: left horribly exposed
Konsa: doesn't have the tools for the job he's given, not his fault at his age and level of experience
Fox: Fred is younger and less experienced yet showed him up relentlessly, miserable
Bauer: not tough enough for this 3rd division derby match, jessie
Teixeira: quitter, charlatan, coward
Lookman: won't want to stick around a second longer with this crowd of crocks and charlatans
Crofts: does what he can with the tools he has, sigh...
Jackson: ditto
Chicksen: seemed bemused throughout
Magennis: carrying the rest
Ajose: shameful loathsome just go away

It's not his squad, he inherited injuries too 2-3 of our most influential players. You could argue that he should still be able to get a tune out of them as Nugent did, but maybe his system does not suit the squad, where Nugents did.
I for one am going to take a deep breath until late Jan, early Feb.
Was not his biggest fan when at franchise FC, but liked his enthusiasm at the start, however, the David Brent'esq wanting to be mr popular (giving the squad Xmas day off) and trying to be everyone's mate is starting to wear thin, he does like the sound of his own voice.10 -

I think we have become so desperate that we all look for any straw to cling to when the next manager arrives. Hindsight tells us our gut feeling that they were simply not good enough is right. You're right, it's not his squad and that isn't likely to change until the summer at the earliest, he will have to settle for a few of the leagues leftovers as is customary during the January window. The other issue is, there may well be a few exits in January if reports are to be believed which means he will need to add to the squad as well as plug the holes left by those who move on. This could mean he brings in 5-6 players which at this stage of the season is far from ideal.
