@Clem_Snide and I did a football weekender in Glasgow. Queens Park v Morton at Hampden on the Saturday. After visiting the the Scottish Football museum , we ended up forcing the people who ran a near by social club to open up an hour early. Met some weird Ipswich fan in there. The game itself was attended by about 1500 in a 52k stadium.ElfsborgAddick said:
About 10 years ago I saw Cowdenbeath v Queens Park, a very strange experience watching the game whilst the stock cars were coming in for the evenings racing!Chippycafc said:
I lived nr cowdenbeath hence ehy i am a fan.ForeverAddickted said:
Blimey... How the hell am I not the only Cowdenbeath / Charlton fan!!Chippycafc said:I always wear a hat that is either st pauli, bayer leverkusen, celtic, ebbsfleet utd, cowdenbeath but always charlton shirt underneath, plus of course black and shite scarf.... No-one has ever asked me why, cos i suppose they dont give a toss and why should they. In fact the Germans in the lib saturday were amused by it. K
In the evening we took in the 'delights' of Glasgow, almost got killed in a pub for daring to have an English accent and swiftly moved on to visit the mighy fine ladies of the Truffle Club - the only time I felt safe all weekend.
Next morning we did the Celtic park stadium tour, were warned by a club employee to get a cab back in to Glasgow, as again our accent would get us killed if we were heard talking in the surrounding areas The cab ride took us past an Orangemen March, and past a massive Rangers pub.
A few beers later and it was off to Ibrox for Rangers v Hibs, the cab driver refused to drop us off anywhere near the ground. At Glasgow Central Station we were approached by some pissed up randoms and asked "how did those c@@nts" get on today?" Both Celtic and Rangers both won 2-1, so we couldn't really go wrong!
From that weekend my dislike for Celtic reached a new level. In fact the people of Glasgow don't rank particularly highly - apart from the fair ladies of the truffle club, a young lady who worked in Burger King and the people who ran the Hampden Park social club.
I'd rather take my chances walking through a mine field than visit Glasgow again.3 -

It will be fine if you don't talk or just stay in the vicinity of Govan. It's Celtic that are the problem.palarsehater said:@ricky_otto im staying up in glasgow for the england scotland match

You'll be fine, been up there over 30 times with an accent which actually got told today sounds just like Frank Lampard's and not had a bit of bother. That's drinking in pubs around Celtic Park as well as areas like Hampden, Barrhead and Crookston. Also many a nights out in the city centre, although it does tend to be females in which I've spoken to on said nights out. Feel Glasgow as an area is a bit like Millwall as a Football team, bad reputation due to it's past but not as big, bad or scary as it once was unless of course you go looking for it.palarsehater said:@ricky_otto im staying up in glasgow for the england scotland match

That Bipling video needs a thread/discussion of its own. This is too big to be lost in a chat about Cowdenbeath shirts or whatever.

What has this got to do with Charlton/curry ?0 -
