still very much disputed as I understand it. I don't see how it fits the traditional definition which is a major landmass. if you look at that article you'll see that most of the scientists claiming it should be counted are kiwis, there's a chance they could be biased. claiming that it would obviously be a landmass with mountains and stuff if we removed the ocean is stretching it a bit for meThe_President said:0 -

North and South America are separate continents. Try driving from one to the other - there is a gap in the south of Panama called the Darien Gap. There is a land bridge, but it is pretty impenetrable. There used to be with Asia and North America but not even Dave21 who equates Asia and Australia is arguing that they are one continent.

Australia was Australasia as well. But it was a long time ago when i was in primary school - I believe Cook had only just discovered it!!2 -
