Only a fool would want to buy Charlton at the moment. Thanks to KM we have a number of players on ridiculous contracts , who wants to take them on ? The club is worth about £1 with the ongoing losses any new owners will be saddled with. Have a good summer but don't have any expectations for next season unless we can fill the subs bench with You tubers2

I remain concerned about their cash flow. I hope they realize that costs are not simply limited to purchasing the club, or even eating the operating losses that the cub is currently being run at. To get to the Championship, let alone the Premiership which is apparently their goal, they will need to make huge investments into the club--squad, staff, training ground, academy. To get to the Championship and have a shot at the playoffs I think you're looking at the purchasing price again potentially. This is really, really rough math, but I'm thinking 1m in operating losses a month is 24m over two years. But I think you'd add into that another 1m/month for transfer payments and wages to get players of the requisite quality in (maybe that's a bit much). That would take you to around the 50m mark in operating costs just over the next two years.
I would also think that, to put a solid infrastructure in place, you'd need to invest in something like a Director of Football or whatever who oversees the budget and scouting staff. I'd also imagine we need investments to the scouting staff given we've been using The Network's, as well as seemingly some positions within the club that still need to be filled.
I think you'd see attendances rise, but that only cover so much. Hopefully the live overseas stream will bring in a bit of money (they can have all my money!), but doubtful it'll be much.
This is all like really rough math from the top of my head, and those with more detailed knowledge of these things can feel free to tell me how off I am.14 -

The statement does seem to go out of its way to address the exact issues we have faced with RD/KM in charge here. Doesnt mean theyre buying us, but it it might be a way to get supporters onside. This paragraph sounds great:

I'm unsure if it's changed again, but when I read it a few weeks ago, I thought it was the perfect description of Charlton.

Ummmm.... we are already losing that much per year.
I don't know what drugs you are using, but Watford and Leicester lost £100 million to get to the PL. Brighton's owner spend £200 million to get there. Leeds has lost £60 million the last 4 years and is not there yet.
The fact... and it is a fact based on recent historical data... it will take many multiples of the club purchase price to get to the PL from where we are.
Which is why I am not for the Aussie takeover. If they are struggling to raise the money to buy the club, then they sure don't have the cash to get us promoted.
Red Bull, on the other hand, has two clubs that qualified for the Champions league this year. At least we would not have to worry about whether the owners are broke. And if the rumours of not buying the ground have ANY credibility, then add "stupid" to the list for the Aussie buyers, too.

If, and it's a big if, the club got back to the Premier League it would be necessary to add seats to the ground to maximise profits. Not only would this cost a lot of money it would be vital to own the ground to finance the investment.
The scope to extend the east stand is limited by the housing development recently completed.0 -

As I understand it (probably way off) the plans that were previously submitted included plans for the East. I believe it involved making the current stand just seating (so removing the current corporate boxes) and adding a second smaller tier with just corporate boxes. Much more and better boxes than we currently have. From what I am led to believe our corporate boxes etc. are what we lackbwheb compared to other clubs of our size. I'm sure you could extend the East Stand backwards by using the space currently being used as the concourse, and then housing any new concourse within the new stand (or, simply put, making a roof over the concourse) - a bit like the Kop (if you've ever been to Anfield), which has the top tier extending out so far over the road outside. You then make the South (sorry, The Jimmy Seed Stand) larger & fill in the corners ala the North. I reckon you could make an extra 7-10k seats this way & I don't think we need much more than 35-40k capacity anyway.cantersaddick said:

I disagree. You can easily survive in the PL with a 27k capacity stadium. Yes you may never challenge for the title but the money received each year for being in the PL is enough to make you competive and there is no where near as much reliance on gate receipts as there was before.Crusty54 said:Lots of Kings Of Wishful Thinking here.

Best option for the east stand imo is to go for terraced safe standing in a lower tier with a second tier above which extends back to the perimeter. Would need to keep the concourse the same size as now for the increased capacity but would be Undercover.
Could reduce the very high take angle on both upper and lower tiers0 -
Should say I've not done any work at all to find out whether this is feasible or would increase capacity
