    Good article Louis, cheers. Robinson frames this very well, and despite him leaving, has been very complimentary of Tex. That's the right way to do things in my opinion.

    STVV will have paid just enough for CAFC to not fall foul of FFP so RD can continue to pump in debt rather than equity is my guess.

    Got bullied by old fashioned strikers like Steve Morrison, personally thought he was a bit suspect, although we'll see his knack of popping up with a goal.

    Tex and Rod Fanni were the best centre-back pairing for me in recent years but let's hope this season's main pairing make me think twice about that assessment (whoever they might be). I'm going for Pearce and Bauer.....

    I'm not doubting this but it seems weird that the contracts finish on 30th June but the players keep being paid until 31st July. Even if they were pain in arrears they should receive their June payments at the end of June.

    No doubt the 'arrangements' are not straight forward, but no matter how much it is costing 'us', it's another one permenantly off the books that the club didn't want, so that should be seen as a positive.

    Just need Roland to come to a similar agreement with some of the other expensive legacy shite.

    I liked Tex to be honest. Wasn't his fault he had a fantastic contract thrown at him.

    Love Gobbo's 'he's been great for me' stuff. Wasn't It only a few months ago he was chucking out the 'worst thing I've ever seen in a dressing room' rhetoric which was allegedly aimed at Tex??

    They are paid for July if they haven't found a club. Probably one of the benefits of having a strong union:

    Well, his two goals were 1) jumping over Konsa to head in a cross and 2) losing Konsa to finish a through-ball

    Konsa will improve and it's hard for a youngster to deal with an experienced forward in such a pressure situation, but I thought Tex was good that day

    Thanks. That makes sense. It also takes away the urgency for them to agree a new deal. I suspect it also explains why these players don't panic about a new contract until August.

    It's the way of football that players out of contract get paid that extra month or at least one I was involved.

    Think it goes back to the bad old days when players could be released at a drop of a hat in the summer.

    bullied ? .. at Rochdale Konsa was so bullied by their strikers that he went off injured to be replaced by Tex, who scored (if memory serves) twice to earn a point in a 3 -3 .. Konsa is decent but I still have my doubts against him handling a big aggressive no nonsense old fashioned 'striker'

    We weren't basically down. I want to say we were five or six points off safety with 15 games to go or something like that. If we hadn't signed anyone you'd be all over the regime.

    He looked decent in the Championship. He was completely frozen out last year, didn't have a summer, and barely kicked a ball until Karl arrived. I wonder what might have happened with him if we'd embraced him as our player last season and let him play for his move in the first half. It's all academic now.
    Agreed, he wasn't at his best last season, but that's hardly surprising the farcical way he was frozen out under Slade

    None of us know of course, but look at it this way

    * we offloaded approx £11mn in January
    * our budget saw a rumoured £400k of that
    * there doesn't seem to have been any real follow through of spending off the back of that windfall this summer
    * with Tex, with just shifted approx £624k a year off our budget
    * with Tex, another Roland club has just (I'm guessing) smashed their pay structure to bring him on board
