I figured his days were numbered and then when deployed as a wingback that kind of confirmed it.
Regardless of whether people rated him (which I did) he was never particularly content here, was supposedly on a big wage and personal experience and that of a few others confirmed he was a really miserable fucker.
If £12k a week is correct that could do some damage in this division. Spend it wisely KR
Martin and Reeves are on nothing right now.0 -
Good article Louis, cheers. Robinson frames this very well, and despite him leaving, has been very complimentary of Tex. That's the right way to do things in my opinion.LouisMend said:13 -
STVV will have paid just enough for CAFC to not fall foul of FFP so RD can continue to pump in debt rather than equity is my guess.2
-
Got bullied by old fashioned strikers like Steve Morrison, personally thought he was a bit suspect, although we'll see his knack of popping up with a goal.2
-
Tex and Rod Fanni were the best centre-back pairing for me in recent years but let's hope this season's main pairing make me think twice about that assessment (whoever they might be). I'm going for Pearce and Bauer.....
Good luck Tex.4 -
I'm not doubting this but it seems weird that the contracts finish on 30th June but the players keep being paid until 31st July. Even if they were pain in arrears they should receive their June payments at the end of June.Henry Irving said:

No doubt the 'arrangements' are not straight forward, but no matter how much it is costing 'us', it's another one permenantly off the books that the club didn't want, so that should be seen as a positive.
Just need Roland to come to a similar agreement with some of the other expensive legacy shite.
I liked Tex to be honest. Wasn't his fault he had a fantastic contract thrown at him.
Love Gobbo's 'he's been great for me' stuff. Wasn't It only a few months ago he was chucking out the 'worst thing I've ever seen in a dressing room' rhetoric which was allegedly aimed at Tex??19 -
They are paid for July if they haven't found a club. Probably one of the benefits of having a strong union:kings hill addick said:

This 'bullied by Morison' nonsense....in the game at The New Den last season it was Konsa who was bullied by Morison, and Tex who was one of our best players4

Well, his two goals were 1) jumping over Konsa to head in a cross and 2) losing Konsa to finish a through-ball
Konsa will improve and it's hard for a youngster to deal with an experienced forward in such a pressure situation, but I thought Tex was good that day2 -
Thanks. That makes sense. It also takes away the urgency for them to agree a new deal. I suspect it also explains why these players don't panic about a new contract until August.Airman Brown said:

It's the way of football that players out of contract get paid that extra month or at least one I was involved.kings hill addick said:

Think it goes back to the bad old days when players could be released at a drop of a hat in the summer.1 -
bullied ? .. at Rochdale Konsa was so bullied by their strikers that he went off injured to be replaced by Tex, who scored (if memory serves) twice to earn a point in a 3 -3 .. Konsa is decent but I still have my doubts against him handling a big aggressive no nonsense old fashioned 'striker'Leuth said:This 'bullied by Morison' nonsense....in the game at The New Den last season it was Konsa who was bullied by Morison, and Tex who was one of our best players

Glad I'm not the only one who never really got the fuss behind him.Carter said:Behave, this guy was a classic regime signing. Looks quality on the soft ball playing continent and in the opponents 18 yard box but was fucking hopeless and got dominated by career 3rd tier centre forward bullies. Him and Bauer are useless centre halves in this country especially at 2nd and third tier level.
Dominate your centre forward and win the first time balls before you think about doing anything else.

Tex was decent but he did get beaten in the air a lot defensively.
Clutching at straws here but could Roland be getting ready to sell if he's moving valuable players to STTV?4 -
Well one player, a player who was always likely to be moved from wage bill this summer. The Red Robin said:Tex was decent but he did get beaten in the air a lot defensively.

Unfortunately think your being a bit hopeful!1 -
Was ok but never got the feeling his heart was ever in it so best for all parties4

No but it might help reduce the massive deficit.shirty5 said:If this deal goes through then it's just Saint Trinains taking over his remaining 3 years left on his Charlton contract.
Does anyone really believe Robinson will see an increase on his spending budget, cause Tex has gone to another one of Roland's network clubs?2 -
Let's not forget Konsa is 19 - still got plenty of growing time.Lincsaddick said:

So the text messages he was showing around the dressing room at Shrews last year were from his agent about a move to St T ?
Wow I bet the other lads were well jell.16 -
Agreed, he wasn't at his best last season, but that's hardly surprising the farcical way he was frozen out under SladeSDAddick said:
We weren't basically down. I want to say we were five or six points off safety with 15 games to go or something like that. If we hadn't signed anyone you'd be all over the regime.ElfsborgAddick said:

12k a week when we were basically down. Wtf was she doing?!!!
He looked decent in the Championship. He was completely frozen out last year, didn't have a summer, and barely kicked a ball until Karl arrived. I wonder what might have happened with him if we'd embraced him as our player last season and let him play for his move in the first half. It's all academic now.3 -
One of the better foreign imports who was clearly popular in the dressing room. But I'd rather Pearce and Konsa and Lennon and Bauer.1
-
Loads of add ons included, credit where it's due , well done the board5

They just can't help themselves, hopefully Robbo gets the cash, but feel it will be another shit season5

None of us know of course, but look at it this waypalarsehater said:hopefully Robbo gets the cash
* we offloaded approx £11mn in January
* our budget saw a rumoured £400k of that
* there doesn't seem to have been any real follow through of spending off the back of that windfall this summer
* with Tex, with just shifted approx £624k a year off our budget
* with Tex, another Roland club has just (I'm guessing) smashed their pay structure to bring him on board
Now...
1. Do you think it is likely our manager will now see his available budget increase by £624k?
Or
2. Has Roland just simply reduced our budget by £624k and increased Sint Truiden's by £624k?

Absolutely not. Gudmundsson was outstanding.ForeverAddickted said:He's up there with Gudmundsson as proof that the regime can sign good players... they just need to stop paying crazy wages to everyone and cant have 50-flops in between these types of purchases

How much did we get for him? Not even an "undisclosed fee" on the OS story.0

So no fee then2
