John Mills is good in it.JessieAddick said:Anyone seen Dunkirk? I just read it premiered in London. One of the films that I've been most looking forward to this year. Hopefully it lives up to the expectations.

Can't wait, Christopher Nolan, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy - nearly all my favourites in one film.JiMMy 85 said:

Just watched Logan. Now that is one bloodthirsty, swear-a-minute flick. Loved it.5

Lost City of Z. Didnt know anything about this...was a very random choice to watch it, but I enjoyed it. Ive always been drawn to the costume dramas and Charlie Hunnam does well as the lead and an interesting support role for Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller (almost un-recognisable in her role as Hunnam's wife)...a solid film about one man's obsession. 6.5/100

It's in the blu ray edition I got so will check that version out too. Got Midnight Special to watch today too.JiMMy 85 said:
I saw the black and white version and I don't know why, but it was even better.1StevieG said:Just watched Logan. Now that is one bloodthirsty, swear-a-minute flick. Loved it.

Cant wait for Dunkirk next week... Apparently there isnt much dialogue (Tom Hardy has just 10 lines) with most scenes relying on the setting and music - Christopher Nolan has compared the casting of Harry Styles to that of Heath Ledger as the Joker.
All this makes me want to see the film even more4 -
Passengers was not a bad movie. Not outstanding but not bad.1

Lost city of Z - sent me to the land of Z.0

I want to see this, too. A couple of months ago I watched one from the '50s with Richard Attenborough, John Mills and Bernard Lee (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051565/). It's not a great film but it does capture the heroism of what was an extraordinary event.JessieAddick said:Anyone seen Dunkirk? I just read it premiered in London. It's on general release here on Friday 21st and I'm seeing it on Saturday. The trailer looks spectacular. I will put a review up straight after, but I'm sure I won't be the first one.JessieAddick said:Anyone seen Dunkirk? I just read it premiered in London. It all looked a bit too clean and tidy for me and as with most modern films everyone has to be good looking.IdleHans said:

I'll be seeing it on Saturday though.1 -
Yes agreed, that was disappointing.JiMMy 85 said:
Agreed. It's perfectly well made. Sony threw a bunch of on-trend elements together (space movie + top box office actors = $$$$), but its only real flaw is perhaps a lack of depth in the final act.Dazzler21 said:Passengers was not a bad movie. Not outstanding but not bad.

Probably in the middle somewhere. Wouldn't stick it in the classic sci-fi bracket but I enjoyed the weirdness of it ( reminded me of ET ). Maybe after another watch I might be won over. Always enjoy watching Michael Shannon and this is probably one of his most non menacing characters I have seen him play.JiMMy 85 said:I loved Midnight Special but it really did split audiences - let us know where you land...

Watched it last night. I think because pretty much every review has been so positive I was a little disappointed. Like the fact it's not your standard marvel/comic movie but felt the final act was a little underwhelming1StevieG said:Just watched Logan. Now that is one bloodthirsty, swear-a-minute flick. There was a big review screening last night, three friends said it was stunning. One, a big WW2 buff, said it "should be the last WW2 film ever made."
Although The Times said it lacks plot, character focus and came off like watching a video game being played! I suspect that review will be in the minority.1 -
I may be a bit late to the party, but I've just watched the second trailer for Blade Runner 2049 (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZOaI_Fn5o4&feature=youtu.be). If you haven't watched the trailer, this next bit will be a bit spoilery.
The 'they were hunting us' hints at Harrison's character being a replicant, as many have always believed since the unicorn dream and origami in the director's cut, or even before that. It could be that Harrison is one of the last of the humans and it's the replicants that are doing the hunting, but then what does that make Ryan's character?0 -
Recent watches courtesy of attempting to get my monies worth out of my Cineworld Card...
Baby Driver
As others have mentioned a real easy and enjoyable watch. Definitely one of the most fun I've seen this year so far.
A solid 8/10
The Mummy
Awful, awful, awful. Don't bother, ever.
3/10
Wonder Woman
Thought the whole WWI stuff was a bit annoying but as superhero movies go it was alright. Gal Gadot is a babe though.
6.5/10
Despicable M3
The weakest of the trilogy so far but still an enjoyable hour and half, kids will love it, the ones in the screening I was at certainly did.
6.5/10
Looking forward to Dunkirk, have a feeling it'll be Film of the Year material.0 -
Just saw the Graduate at the cinema - 50th anniversary showing. Film has aged well - superb soundtrack and Dustin Hoffman excellent.0

It's still looking promising to me but I do worry it'll be a right load of old prometheus......AddicksAddict said:I may be a bit late to the party, but I've just watched the second trailer for Blade Runner 2049 (
