A keeper in and some outgoings - then a loan or two if we can (Mavdidi if we are so lucky).
KR happy to promote youngsters, he's probably got a fairer budget than at MKD so even when he's stuck on some puppet strings he can't be too unhappy here.
We'll finish circa 9th give or take depending on injuries and sales mid-season.0 -
KM having any input into player recruitment is like my asking my sister who we should sign. And she absolutely hates football.7
-
Hold up, why would KM even have a say in this?Swisdom said:Some will go an a GK. Likely this week.
I know Karl was very keen on Mavididi whereas KM wants another striker.
Whether we get both remains to be seen but Arsenal wouldn't release Mavididi until the end of their pre-season tour2 -
If Igor is actually fit then I would've loved to have seen him in League One this season. RD is paying his wages regardless.1

Close to the truth I'm afraid. But actually we all know what Roland believes:All_Thaid_Up said:As usual our regimes transfer policy is this.
I heard he recently had a tyre puncture but he wasn't off the road for long.......2 -
KM has an opinion....maybe she's listened to supporters or maybe she's seen it for herself...or spoken to the management team. For what it's worth it's also an opinion pretty much everyone shares so not worthy of a drama.
We all want both but what we can afford is something different. Seems like Karl is pushing Novak but I have yet to see anything from him that convinces me he's up to it8 -
Somebody we have on our books, who judging by the number of goals he has scored recently I would call a striker, is Ajose.
There is an issue as to whether Robinson wants him in his system.
There is debate about his ability.
He is not a target man like Josh.
He has been allowed to go by the collective decisions of this regime for a whole season.
As has Vetokele.
I think what is being urged upon Robinson is to make use of players like RHF and KAG.
The situation is delicate and risky, although if Robinson is prepared to sometimes change to a plan B system, by that I mean 442, then we could exploit our current players in different ways.
I seriously think though that we need cover at left back (Archie isn't ready yet), clearly a goalkeeper, and a player to fulfil Magennis role as I doubt Novak can do it (I would like to be proved wrong about this).
This is now urgent, and it would be good for the club to act immediately before it becomes desperate.1 -
Meires opinions have cost this football club money, points and supporters the last 4 years. She should either keep them to herself or just do what we all want and fuck off.Swisdom said:KM has an opinion....maybe she's listened to supporters or maybe she's seen it for herself...or spoken to the management team. Of course I agree. The woman is a complete incompetent who shouldn't be involved with the football club, let alone anywhere near first team transfers.ValleyGary said:KM having any input into player recruitment is like my asking my sister who we should sign. And she absolutely hates football.
But, if she thinks we need a striker and KR doesn't, I would agree with her. And that is possibly only the second time I have ever said that.0 -

However..............i make her right. We do need a striker.2 -
I'm not a KR fan but there is absolutely no way he doesn't want another striker. Regardless if Mavididi has interest from Champ level, he should have the support of the board to try get him, not be told 'I want someone else' as Swisdom has suggested.cafcfan1990 said:

And there lies the problem Gary, we all know in the past that KM & RD have meddled in team affairs and despite assurances it does not happen or will not happen again, nothing changes.ValleyGary said:

Robinson is the regimes mouthpiece, he may ask for certain players but he gets what he is given.
All those on here crying out for "cover in this position" and "cover in that position" should know from past experience that this regime do not spend unnecessarily on players or big squads.
If a player gets injured in a key position we get a Belgium third division player drafted in or an emergency loan player.

I'm sure that KM has opinions on some aspects of the club and the team, albeit probably not very sound or well informed ones. In the final analysis, however, it matters not a jot - all the key decisions are made by Duchatelet; her role, as she said in the very first interview, is to be 'his eyes and ears'.1

agreed. The issue may be waiting for Mavididi and he ends up going to the Champ, leaving us with a plan B, which this club rarely has. It will be Umerah, Kennedy or Hanlan stepping up or a panic signing.ValleyGary said:

Indeed - although Roland probably thinks she's doing a decent job. Plenty of player sales, some good youngsters coming through from the Academy and she is acting as a buffer for most of the flak aimed at the regime. For a man for whom winning is secondary, relegation and the mediocrity of last season are nothing to get too excited about.1

FFS sign someone (preferably a gk / CF)3
-
All incomings have been ok Karl's wish list. He is calling the shots.12

We need a specialist striker, (in an ideal world one better than Mag)and he has to be a big hold up type of player.
If we cannot have better we need an experienced goal scorer from a higher level on his way out of football (old), or a young player on his way up (as in the Walsal player I mentioned).
As it is we do not have a player that can come on, liven things up and nick us a goal, let alone replace Mag should he get injured.0 -

One of the ironies of signing Dasilva is that we are now promoting one from Chelsea's baby farm, not one of our own. I'll be surprised if we sign Mavididi because playing Arsenal's promising 'baby striker' in our team will not sit well with Roland. Perhaps KAG will come good this season? Of course Roland will be chuffed that Dijksteel is going to be added to the 1st team squad so he will not have to spend any money on right back cover but I am pleased that he and Barnes and maybe Lapslie are progressing well because I indeed do like the idea of Charlton developing their youth team players...I just don't want them sold at the drop of a hat like they are at the moment.
We definitely do need to buy a keeper and a striker because if we do not sign a decent striker I don't think we will score enough goals to be promoted.0 -
At the end of the day three signings so far with the opening game just over a week away is a poor showing. Key positions still not covered no matter how it's dressed up!3

So it's knobinsons decision not to sign a keeper? Nothing to do with him being told to play and develop the youngsters?????Swisdom said:All incomings have been ok Karl's wish list. He is calling the shots.
Knobinsons quoted theneed to do business early and sign two keepers. 10 days before the season starts and how many goalkeepers have we signed. How is knobinsons calling the shots3 -
Did he sign the two bodies that were sitting in the stand at the last game of the season?
Just interested thats all...............6 -
Four signings plus Kashi and Sarr, so it's like 6 new signings, need a keeper obviously and maybe one or two more but we're not far away.dajavouslagan said:At the end of the day three signings so far with the opening game just over a week away is a poor showing.
