Under 17s Football World Cup- October 6th- October 28th

Starts tonight in India, I believe all matches are being shown live on Eurosport.

England are 2nd favs at 6/1 to win the tournament behind Brazil.

Dortmund has allowed Jadno Sancho to travel and play but only in the group stage. We do have some exceptional young talent playing for England at that age; Phil Foden, Sancho and Angel Gomes.

Hopefully, we can continue our excellent form in youth tournaments.

England first match is actually at 5PM on Sunday (Same time as the seniors against Lithuania).

    Cheers, Forever.

Perhaps if Roland believes the production line of big profit youngsters is running dry, he'll think it's time he sold up.

Odoi-Hudson of Chelsea and Steve Sessagnon of Fulham (younger brother of phenom Ryan) are both meant to be quite good as well.

Agree the City academy boys Fodden and Sancho are the two with the potential to really be something special.

Doubt it's being shown in the US which is a shame. Always like watching the yoot tournaments. It's at this tournament 6ish years ago that I first saw JFC, Nat Chalobah, Jordan Cousins, Nick Powell, Raheem Sterling, and Nathen Redmond.

Oh and the US team has Josh Sargent, who was very good at the U20 world cup, along with Tim Weah, son of George, who is meant to be quite tidy himself.

Surely England only win tournaments when there is a 'charlton' connection

Ghana's first choice keeper is 14!

Was looking forward to seeing Vinicius Junior playing for Brazil, he's the 16 year old that Real Madrid paid 40m for in the summer, but he pulled out with a knee injury last week.

France 6-0 up at half time against the might of New Caledonia, will be double figures if they carry on.
Lyon wonderkid Amine Gouiri who scored 8 of France's 12 goals at the U17 Euro's in the summer has got 2 of them.

How on earth are New Caledonia there? Seems bizarre to have 2 teams for Oceania (which excludes Australia) but only 5 from Europe and 4 from South America

Love to see our senior side play the way the U17s have just done.

    Does seem a bit strange.

On another note though, Sancho is going to be a great player. Player of the tournament at the U17 Euro's and could well do the same here (2 goals and 1 assist today). City should probably have done more to keep him happy, but it'll definitely be better for his career going to Dortmund. He was on their bench at the weekend, that would've likely not happened at City for a couple more years.

It isn't just the under 17s, whenever I have watched a youth team match on TV England have dominated, playing attacking football.

I believe England youth teams have not lost a competitive match in 2017, excluding penalties.

Definitely a good thing having English players playing abroad - more need to do it. Reece Oxford is out on loan in Germany as well - not sure if he has played yet, but it will certainly add to his development.

At the U17s, Oceania get 2 places out of 24, whereas next summer in Russia they get a maximum of 1 (via a playoff) out of 32!

It seems that this extra spot was at the expense of a European place. As this is FIFA, I'm sure the decision was taken in a completely rational and above board manner...

"wonderkid" is why so many fail to go on to meet their potential.

He's certainly a decent prospect, but he's no KAG

    England currently playing Mexico.

One of the worst misses you will ever see from Brewster. Plus a disallowed goal.

    England should piss this.

    3-0 Sancho penalty.

Sancho is the best player at this tournament by a distance. There's still an outside chance he will be on the plane to Russia.

My man Gouiri scored 2 more for France, both goals in a 2-1 win v Japan.
