We did sell out, Tickets were sold at 4 for each season ticket holder. I had to eventually send a personal plea to Peter Varney in order that i could get some.

Interesting(ish) that everyone had only three home games remaining regardless of the number of matches left to play.

    Fleetwood (H) - W
    Wigan (A) - L
    Gillingam (A) - W
    Bristol Rovers (H) - W

    Plymouth (A) - L
    Bradford (A) - W

    Final standings:
    C Wigan 105
    P Blackburn 100
    --------------------------
    3rd Shrewsbury 97
    4th Rotherham 78
    5th Charlton 78
    6th Plymouth 77
    --------------------------
    7th Pompey 73
    8th Scunny 71
    9th Posh 67

Yes, I'm being very optimistic about our chances but I'm basing my predictions on the current Dream Team of BowJo staying in charge for the remainder of the season; new owners bringing in a new manager could derail everything.

I'm not sure we could overturn Rotherham's GD advantage of +14, even after giving them a shellacking tomorrow, but it will be much closer by season's end and shows what a mess Robbo managed to make of the season.

IF the play-offs panned out this way I'd fancy a Charlton/Plymouth final, which would be harsh on Shrewsbury given the season they've had (when most predictions had them being relegated!) but Argyle have the upper hand in recent meetings, unbeaten in their last six encounters with four wins.

Think some people are being far too optimistic, as well as predicting far too many points for a number of teams between now and end of season.

There are going to be plenty more twists and turns yet. But predicting the top three to get 105, 100, and 97 for example is outrageously high. Same with people thinking Plymouth won’t lose again this season, I would have a bet they do.

    Plymouth:
    Scunthorpe (A) 1
    Peterborough (H) 1
    Portsmouth (H) 3
    Northampton (A) 3
    Rochdale (A) 0
    Rotherham (H) 3
    Gillingham (A) 1
    72 points

    Scunthorpe:
    Plymouth (H) 1
    Wimbledon (A) 3
    Charlton (A) 0
    Walsall (H) 3
    MK Dons (A) 1
    Bradford (H) 1
    69 points

    Rotherham:
    Charlton (A) 0
    Fleetwood (H) 3
    Wigan (A) 0
    Gillingam (A) 3
    Bristol Rovers (H) 1
    Plymouth (A) 0
    Blackpool (H) 3
    76 points

    Peterborough:
    Northampton (H) 3
    Plymouth (A) 1
    Rochdale (H) 3
    Blackburn (A) 0
    Shrewsbury (A) 0
    Fleetwood (H) 3
    Portsmouth (A) 1
    69 points

    Portsmouth:
    Walsall (A) 3
    Wigan (H) 0
    Rochdale (A) 3
    Plymouth (A) 0
    Bradford (A) 1
    Charlton (H) 0
    Bury (A) 3
    Peterborough (H) 1
    69 points

    Charlton:
    Rotherham (H) 3
    Bristol Rovers (A) 1
    Wimbledon (A) 3
    Scunthorpe (H) 3
    Shrewsbury (A) 0
    Portsmouth (A) 3
    Blackburn (H) 1
    Rochdale (A) 3
    75 points

    Wigan
    Blackburn
    ———————
    Shrewsbury
    Rotherham 76
    Charlton 75
    Plymouth 72
    ———————
    Peterborough 69
    Scunthorpe 69
    Portsmouth 69

Division Three is a shit standard this season - that we're still in touching distance of the play-offs despite our long runs of poor form is testament to that.

In that shit division Wigan, Blackburn, and Shrewsbury have been head and shoulders above everyone else: they've only lost 17 games between them so far so it's not too fanciful to think they'll continue on their winning ways whilst they're still fighting for an automatic promotion place.

Yes, and it goes with the territory being a Charlton fan to be kicked in the teeth. What makes me think it could be different tomorrow and through the remainder of the season is I actually think Plymouth were up for it, decent and we were just better than them and I don't think I have seen Charlton being so dominant in a match as they were against Northampton, poor side that they were.

    Injuries are my biggest fear.
  • Don't want to be a party popper, but Charlton's record at Wembley, if you remember, is, lose, win, lose, win, lose, win. So our next visit, what?
  • 6 teams competing for the final three playoff spaces - Rotherham have a bit of a head start and Portsmouth have the most clued up manager Kenny Jackett.

The current top three in the table will take the automatic promotion places and the remaining playoff position.

If I had to bet on this I think the combination of Jackett and the Pompey support will get them through the playoffs. If we win today then I think we will at least make top six.

I think the only way that Pompey will make the play offs will be at the expense of either ourselves or Plymouth. Shrewsbury are almost mathematically safe. Rotherham have an eight point advantage over Posh and Pompey, which is a lot to make up with only 21 points left to play for.
Plymouth are in the form of their lives, so that only leaves us and we've just turned the gas up.

As for scunny, they are slipping faster than Bambi on ice.

As mentioned in the original post, they are top three and unless everyone below them goes on an impossibly good run, they are either promoted/in the playoffs already. They have 78 points...

Because some sides have to play each other, i think Shrewsbury could lose every single game and still be in the play offs.

    Team P GD Pts
    1 Wigan 37 48 80
    2 Blackburn 38 37 79
    3 Shrewsbury 39 21 78
    4 Rotherham 39 18 66
    5 Scunthorpe 40 9 60
    6 Plymouth 39 4 60
    7 Peterborough 39 12 58
    8 Charlton 38 4 58
    9 Portsmouth 39 2 58
    10 Bristol Rovers 39 -2 54

It looks like the top three to argue over automatic and then from 4th to 9th for the remaining play-off positions

Seven league games left. Win all ten and we're up.
