Var supposed to be clear & obvious error but how was the French pen any more clear & obvious than the Argentina appeal that wasn't even looked at?0
-
Messi is trying too hard to correct that miss now0
-
If I hadn't put that bet on messi would have a hat trick by now
I want to fucking scream2 -
Is stupid its taken so long to get Huguain or Dybala on the pitch0

Well played Iceland.0

Great defensive performance from Iceland.
Highlight for me has to be the American commentator just now saying "Iceland have beaten Argentina 1-1!"4 -
Ronaldo 1 Messi 0
Roy Hodgson will have enjoyed that result as well!0 -
Shock horror VAR is a shambles.
In other news the sky is blue and water is wet.1 -
2016 Portugal draw opening game 1-1 with Iceland with a missed Ronaldo penalty. Portugal win the tournament.
2018 Argentina draw opening game 1-1 with Iceland with a missed Messi penalty. ???1 -
FIFA clearly thought they had found a way to make VAR faster, but I called both Argentian penalty and non penalty right watching on TV and the VAR missed both. I think the solution is give each team an appeal which they can only make for key decisions and they lose if they are wrong. Then do it properly when it is used!
Football has to try to find a way other than the obvious!1 -
It’s been used about 5 times over 6 games and most of those have been in 2 games and they get a couple of decisions the wrong in that it wasn’t used when it should have been. And they didn’t score from the one that shouldn’t have been given. Hardly a game changer eh? And it’s still got us talking about it afterwards too....Manicmania said:Shock horror VAR is a shambles.

I think the refs have so far been bloody brilliant by the way.1 -
I think just let the refs make the subjective decisions like they have for over 100 years. Keep the goal line tech and use VAR for the objective offside decisions only.MuttleyCAFC said:FIFA clearly thought they had found a way to make VAR faster, but I called both Argentian penalty and non penalty right watching on TV and the VAR missed both. I'm confused? The first penalty was straight forward and no need for VAR to get involved. Maybe they had a quick glance but there was never any danger of changing the decision.MuttleyCAFC said:FIFA clearly thought they had found a way to make VAR faster, but I called both Argentian penalty and non penalty right watching on TV and the VAR missed both. VAR got involved with the second non-penalty but obviously decided it wasn't enough to over turn. God knows why.
Both times it was handled quickly so not sure you can throw that particular criticism at it.1
