Alcohol midweek is often a bad idea.

    - Apologies @paulie8290 had some early drinks following some bad news then sat in a strop watching the game last night...

If Belgium v Tunisia is a draw btw - we would have a chance of putting the Belgians out with a decent victory! Currently, I would say the big teams in danger are - Argentina of course - They really don't need an Iceland victory today, Germany - Sweden knocked out Italy in the play offs and with a fair wind could get a result against the Germans, Portugal - Iran showed against Spain that they have enough about them to give Portugal a tough game. If Ronaldo has a bad game it isn't impossible for Iran to win and that would very likely send the Portugese out.

well tbh he might regret his decision. I'm sure southgate would of picked him especially cos of his palace connection.

will he get another chance to go to the world cup? if he's still playing in 8 years time then probably yes as that's when the stupid decision of expanding the tournament to 48 teams will be but before that he's only got one more shot and I don't know how good Ivory Coast will be compared to other African nations.

    Zaha is a glorified sprinter.
  • Had a couple of Sauvignon Blancs last night, apologies for my language

I haven't posted sober on here since around 2009 mate.
  • You can't blame Messi for last night, the team selection and tactics were awful.

Enzo Perez wasn't even selected in the initial squad, was called up because of injury to Lanzini, he even had to do extra fitness work because he'd been on holiday.........then he gets picked to start the 2nd match when you have Banega in the squad.

He drops Di Maria, and leaves Higuain, Pavon and Dybala on the bench until the 2nd half.

He plays Mascherano in midfield when the guy has been playing centre back for about the last 5-6 years.

Brazil have gone three WorldCup matches without a win

    Brazil 1-7 Germany
    Brazil 0-3 Netherlands
    Brazil 1-1 Switzerland

    Their worst run since 1978

Interesting if they were to not win again today . Switzerland beat Serbia later would mean that Serbia could knock them out next Wednesday .

Gareth Southgate on the media 'leaking' England's starting XI vs Panama.

“Obviously any time, if we were to give the opposition the opportunity of having our team it’s a disadvantage to us. So of course our media has to decide if they want to help the team or not.” https://t.co/B5XVg68OOk

Whats the predicted line up? Surely he can just change it anyway, not like we are playing anyone noteworthy

It's not as if there are any great surprises in that line up or formation.

    See Germany, Argentina...France?

Best teams out there? England, Mexico, Croatia, Spain and Portugal (in no particular order).
  • Fair to say this is not the greatest Brazil team I've ever seen!

I'm not watching but I really don't see the need for Brazil, in this group, to be playing both Paulinho and Casemiro.

I know the answer is blatant commercialism but why are there so many unnecessary second just in this competition. Brazil and Costa Rica play in yellow and red respectively. Absolutely no need for it.

    Think this was answered earlier,
They may me be a rule that you have to wear both kits at some point

I agree watching this game I keep thinking, when did Italy sneak into the tournament? With the colours in the crowd it's like everyone has turned up to watch the wrong game!
