Last night was told that there was yet another rumour being circulated that the Aussies had ‘formally pulled out’.
Texted my contact and received a reply confirming that they haven’t.
Yet again, I believed a rumour for 10 nerve wracking minutes. Where are they coming from? Getting on my nerves!
Both sides have said the latest story is not true.
Are we to presume that the mid July deadline is accepted by both parties and both are working towards that end ?
The deadline stuff came from the Belgian end only but the timing appears realistic at this stage.
Do you have any sort of info on where things are at airman? I know their was some hints of positive news a couple of weeks back regarding Aussies finding new backing
Sounds very close, but we have been here before...
It’s really about time all concerned came out and said what the hell is going on. Delay after delay, 4 weeks to the season starts and nothing is in place, except Bowyer & Jackson.
The Aussies are negotiating with the wrong Roland, that's why he is so stoney faced and won't budge! And clearly the price to buy him out is nothing like being banded around. Much more realistic!

The club statement was just over 2 weeks ago. How often should the club say talks are ongoing? Many said that statement was pointless.

Why can't I post the bloody its happening gif??? I swear it's because @superchrissypowell randomly gave me an abuse flag!

Well if they haven't pulled out what's holding things up now. If a price has been agreed and new investors found surely the legal teams from both sides could sort something out. I'm thinking it's not happening.
Can’t say I blame you.
But what is happening, I suspect, is some stuff that is only being sorted because the Aussies have spent so much already that they don’t want to pull out at the final (very challenging) hurdle. If they did, I’m not sure anyone else is going to get involved by the sounds of it.
Wouldn't this mystery problem only serve to weaken the Douchebag's position though? Surely he has to keep the Aussies sweet in order to off load, especially if it is acknowledged that no one else would be interested.

Still not bloody happening. How am I meant to get my LOL count up now!

Exactly was a completely pointless statement because it told us nothing that we didn’t know before.
Wasn’t Airman suggesting that the middle of July was “the deadline” ? I suspect we have another ten days before we here anything positive or otherwise.
Look. I’m going on holiday next week and I’ve still got my (now out of date) Pot Noodle, Red Bull and champagne ready to celebrate the great day. I don’t want to cart that lot through the airport on the off chance the takeover happens while I’m abroad. So if Roland could just shave £7m of his price and let the Aussies sort out the ex directors so the deal can be announced in the next few days, I would be much obliged.

But you assume the statement was aimed at you. More likely it was aimed at the Charlton fan that doesn't spend their life refreshing this thread CharltonLife or the CAFC hashtag on Twitter. It was letting them know that something is happening, but it's not there yet.
I don't know the business plan of the Aussies and how long they can stand the insane losses that a League One Charlton makes but surely it's getting to the point, with the season so close now and other teams executing their transfer plans, that it's going to be difficult for us to achieve anything next season?
Like a faithful disciple of Slade I've been patient but I'm becoming increasingly worried about this deal and I'm sceptical that it will be the happily ever after that we so desperately want (if it happens at all).

I lumped on at 11/1 for us to win the title. This is on the assumption that life sometimes does the complete opposite to what you think!

I’m still naive enough to believe or hope that the squad Bowyer is pulling together, small as it might be, might just have enough quality and togetherness to do well. Create a siege mentality and with luck on the injury front might surprise us.

Right now I think our squad might surprise you for all the wrong reasons.
If you think things went wild on here for our 1,000th page, you should have witnessed the scenes of utter mayhem over on iNaturalist this afternoon when they clocked up the terrific binary total of 11,111,111 observations.
That's right, no one mentioned it, and I think I'm the only one who noticed.

Five years. There is nothing anyone can do to speed up the sale. If the Aussies pull out then things will really look bleak, but I don’t think they will.

I have just skipped 102 pages, are we any nearer to cracking open the pot noodles or are we still having a cry wank?
Neither as far as I'm concerned. Not even sure what the latter is !
The first rain we've witnessed here for many a day is now falling as I write this &, as dramatically as it sounds, it's mirroring the tears I'm trying hard to hold back at this moment in time.
The lack of positive news on here is driving us all around the bend and back again, and I'm certain that most Lifers are as depressed as I am. I don't believe I have ever felt so low or helpless in my years of supporting our football club - and it's taking its toll on this ancient bod.
But the thing is, whatever's not happening in SE7 pales into insignificance when I think of two families that are battling against all the odds to come to terms with the devastating prognosis both have recently received regarding their loved ones.
One of our gang is struggling to remain positive & upbeat whilst her dear partner continues to fight a brain tumour. She is one of the dearest, selfless & inspiring people I've ever had the fortune to meet & I'm honoured to call her friend. Sadly, it would seem that time is running out and there is no happy ending in sight. It's SO sad.
You will recall the plight of 4 year old Addick, Jack Jeffreys, the brave little lad suffering from neuroblastoma for whom we auctioned shirts at the POTY event in May. A few days ago, his Dad announced that Jack's condition has worsened and that the Consultants have told the family there is nothing more they can do. Jack is now in some pain as this evil malignancy attacks his little body so his parents are seeking to take him home as soon as possible with the support of relevant pain management etc. Those of us with children & grand children will stand in awe of these lovely people as they face their worst possible fears & our hearts go out to them. Please keep the family in your thoughts & prayers if applicable, whilst holding your loved ones ever closer.
I apologise for digressing from the title of this thread but wanted to remind us all that there are inevitably far worse things in our lives than the future of a football club. Of course, Charlton Athletic plays a huge part and its ups & downs affect us, albeit disproportionately. And we all suffer in some way or another on the rollercoaster of life for sure.
But, whilst the takeover wheels grind exceedingly slowly ( if indeed they have not dropped off) & whilst our moods, hopes & fears are affected daily by merely logging on here each morning, we ( and I really mean myself) need to take a huge step backwards and consider how the lives of others will never be the same again.
I am beginning to believe that Duchatelet never planned to sell us......possibly out of spiteful vengeance for the agro we have caused him. I asked the question several times many months back whether it was known if he is a vengeful person and no one seemed to know......I am still left wondering?

As ever, these kind of tragedies put all this takeover stuff into perspective. Thoughts with the families. My daughter is running a half marathon soon to raise money for children with cancer.
