Butland / Pope (half each) Alexander-Arnold Cahill Maguire Stones Delph Dier Loftus - Cheek Sterling Welbeck Kane (Rashford at half time)
Guessing in reality Jones will play instead of one of Stones / Maguire
Question, Have any England team in world cups or Euro's ever played all of their 22 or 23 squad players ?
Have any England team played any third place play-off matches? I suppose not? This match is different in that it's not important so maybe it will be a great opportunity for the fringe players to take part.
It's a rhetorical question Jessie, because this is only the second time England have played in a 3rd/4th match. The only other time was 1990 where we lost 2-1 to Italy. Peter Shilton was Captain and made a poor mistake for Italy's goal. I'm sure he was the only keeper that played in all the games for England.
The Euro's did away with the 3rd/4th match in 1980 so England didn't have the opportunity to play the squad players.
Would be good if Buckland and Pope could get 45 minutes each so all 23 players were involved in matches for the 1st and I would imagine the last time this situation will ever happen again.

Czechoslovakia came third in 1980. They beat Italy on penalties. But there wasn't a play off in 1996.
It would have been absolutely epic to beat Russia in the Semi Final on their own turf. I don’t need to go into the details obviously, but the back story and context of the whole thing would have been unreal.
Not if you were an English fan out there it wouldn’t.
I feel sorry for Harry Kane, he scored in nearly every game for England in recent times and when he missed one or rather the keeper did an amazing save to knock the ball onto the post he's slated by some folk.
Are people serious when they say square it to Sterling and he has a tap in ! Have you watched his last 25 games for England when he's yards from goal. The lad is good at running at defenders BUT his finishing is the worse I have seen in the last 40 years in a England shirt.
I'm so desperate for Sterling to prove me wrong but never replicates his City goal scoring for England. The paradox is the lad is good at getting into goal scoring positions !
I wouldn't have a dig at Kane he was marvelous in the groups and v columbia. But he had no business being on the pitch v Sweden or particularly v Croatia as he was obviously carrying some kind of injury, which really hampered us and our ability to take some pressure off by holding it upfield in the second half, which he had done so well previously.
I'm not having a go at anyone who does watch it, but is anyone watching today? I'm thinking I'll wait until I see the lineups.
Probably have it on in the background whilst I'm doing something else. One of those occasional games where naturally you want to win, but ultimately aren't really fussed.

If you are winners and not quitters you try to get third as opposed to fourth. I am going to watch it and expect us to try to win it. Best performance since 66 - bank that and try to exceed that next time!

Agreed. Let's show the world we are the best losers out there!
Belgium 1-0 or 2-0 I think. Have backed Belgium the second that team was confirmed, surprised they haven't came in further. Midfield they will run circles around us and I sense it means a little more to them than us taking everything into consideration. Just a presumption.

Gods knows what would happen with 2 stripe Crufff.

A midfield of Dier, Delph and Loftus-Cheek isn't going to do much.
Amazed Trippier has made it, he was practically carried off 3 days ago.
Belgium in 1986 | France in 1982 | Uruguay 1970 | Yugoslavia 1962 also lost three games on route to finishing fourth
Draw against Tunisia and lose to Belgium in the group and we potentially go home. We didn't, the rest is history.
Southgate and kids done well. Unified the nation for 3 weeks - thoroughly enjoyed.
Euros 2016 completely the opposite - imo that's what watching England in finals is so so painful .
My expectation at outset is never that we will win the whole competition . Getting to a semi finals is an amazing bonus and especially this year.
Throw stats up however you like for me it was a great World Cup !
