The statement by CAST chairman Richard Wiseman, which the thread headline refers to.
Is Lee Bowyer the right man for the job on a permanent basis?
Bowyer is a controversial figure and as far as I know, he has never apologised for the racism of his younger days. Personally, I’d much prefer a figure like Chris Powell. What Bowyer did manage in the last 10 games of last season was to get some steel and resilience into the team. He was a relief after Karl Robinson who was full of enthusiasm and superlatives but who never knew how to end a sentence and was wedded to a 4-5-1 set up. I can’t believe we can kick off the season with a caretaker manager so I assume that, in the absence of a sale of the club, he will be permanently appointed by August 4.

What a bizarre comment. I thought I'd read before jumping to conclusions but can't see why that would have been the first response to the question.36

I don't like seeing "The Trust" in the headlines as it makes me thing of the CACT (who do loads of really good stuff) as opposed to CAST who...erm....moan etc5

Was that accusation ever proven?2

Agreed, I find it extremely disappointing. No need for it at all.Elthamaddick said:

Has Bowyer apologised to Ronald MacDonald whilst he's at it...6

Good to see Wiseman and, through him, the Supporters' Trust giving a vote of confidence to Lee Bowyer - Not!0

Great timing!0

The trust get a bit of stick from some quarters and comments like that aren’t going to help them.17

Richard Wiesman, you’re an idiot, why on earth are you trying to stir trouble at this point with everything going on, why have you brought this up. Membership revoked. COCK.clive said:The statement by CAST chairman Richard Wiseman, which the thread headline refers to.

not at all impressed as a Trust member with that quote. Totally unnecessary in the context of that interview. Wasnt even solicited by the interviewer. Surely if Mr Wiseman considers it to be an issue he should raise it personally with Lee Bowyer.11

It's a very odd thing to say and so out of context with the rest of the interview.10
-
One thinks that Mr Wiseman is promoting his own agenda.0
-
We display the polar opposite of a "siege mentality" at Charlton.
Such a peculiar football club.5 -
I hope for your sake Mr Wiseman you are clean as snow and have done nothing wrong in your earlier years that could embarrass you know and someone finds out and puts it on here for everyone to see

Me either Large. I've always backed the Trust but this was totally uncalled for in my opinion.LargeAddick said:not at all impressed as a Trust member with that quote. Man’s an idiot.3

I'm also very disappointed as a member of the trust that this comment about Bowyers past has been made. If the straw poll on here is anything to go by I think the Chairman has some explaining to do to his membership pdq. And if not satisfactory he needs to consider resigning his position.6

I'm not going to start coating off one of my elders. It was a daft thing to say completely (as I can see) unprompted and if it is said as Richard Wiseman generic Charlton fan nobody pays attention. Said as the leader of CAST, it's disappointing because it does reflect on members of CAST like myself and that is absolutely not my view.
No need for the name-calling chaps and chapesses I don't know Richard personally but he's guilty of saying something stupid nothing worthy of nastiness
