Bowyer Has Never Apologised For Racism Says Supporters Trust Chairman

Well thats a load of bollox and a shitty thing to fucking write, its a liberty dragging up the past of a grown up who made mistakes as a teenager just to blow the dick of Chris Powellclive said:The statement by CAST chairman Richard Wiseman, which the thread headline refers to.
Is Lee Bowyer the right man for the job on a permanent basis?
Bowyer is a controversial figure and as far as I know, he has never apologised for the racism of his younger days. Personally, I’d much prefer a figure like Chris Powell. What Bowyer did manage in the last 10 games of last season was to get some steel and resilience into the team. He was a relief after Karl Robinson who was full of enthusiasm and superlatives but who never knew how to end a sentence and was wedded to a 4-5-1 set up. I can’t believe we can kick off the season with a caretaker manager so I assume that, in the absence of a sale of the club, he will be permanently appointed by August 4.
Fuck right off chap18 -
This. Fucking idiot for writing this after everything going on and two days before the start of the season. He’s the one person trying to drag us out of where we are, fuming at that comment from DICK. You do not speak for me.nth london addick said:

The supporters trust members should all resign in protest2

RW is a straight up fella, and was being honest in answering that question. We moan when people in ‘public life’ are evasive don’t we.
LB does have some marks on his copy book undeniably.
Perhaps timing/phrasing a bit unfortunate.4 -
Unreal ------ needs to consider his position as Chairman now and should have considered it before that statement.
3 -
Unpleasant, self-righteous remark, unnecessary and irresponsible. Reflects badly on CASTrust, of which I am a member. I'd hate it it if someone wrote a piece publicly reminding everyone of every mistake I made when I was younger.9

disgraceful statement fuming in nth london glad i stopped paying my money after the first yr

It was uncalled for and a totally unnecessary response to the question. If anything, it highlights his prejudice.
Not happy about this and unsure if I wish to be associated with CAST any longer, particularly on top of their recent comments in not supporting the CARD statement.
They do not seem to support my views any longer.11 -

Just think it's a bit naive. To me the interview content is very much from a personal perspective but they clearly state RW is Chairman of CAST so in responding RW should have taken that into account.2

Ancient history. The answer should have been around how "he has been one of the very few who has been fighting for this club in terms of getting us in any position for the coming season, whilst everything around him is a complete and utter fucking shambles. And on that basis he should be given the opportunity by way of permanent appointment whether the club is sold or not."7 -
Says the club who had Di Canio as manager0

Would hardly call Wiseman a public figure! Just a left wing div who’s used this interview as his own personal sounding board. Thank God I never joined CAST. Should be disbanded now in my opinion.razil said:RW is a straight up fella, and was being honest in answering that question. We moan when people in ‘public life’ are evasive don’t we.

Fail to understand why Richard felt the need to make a controversial statement which is clearly his and not CasTrusts official view. As Chairman he surely realises that any statement he makes will directly be a Trust statement in the eyes of many.
As razil has already said. Richard is a straight up guy but he does need to realise as Trust Chair he has a platform which requires great thought before using. Very much an own goal.7 -
I have a lot of time for Richard and like him as a person - I'm actually the Returning Officer for the Trust elections this year at his request, as my membership has lapsed.
But he's definitely said the wrong thing here, and it's a shame that people are therefore going to tie this one comment to both the man and the Trust as a whole (which is also the wrong thing to do imo).
I have no idea what would have prompted him to say that and at the risk of sounding condescending, I thought he would have known better...9 -
No need for the smarmy remarks about Jim Davidson either IMO13
-
It’s just a totally bizzare and out of context comment with regards to the interview.
Christ knows what made him say it, but he’s dropped a massive bollock in doing so.0 -
I remember when a very decent bloke off here (there are some) said to me I hadn’t put a foot wrong (in forming the Trust) he jinxed it of course and I immediately put one if not two feet wrong. People who do this stuff do it for love and for free and are only human, it’s often extremely consuming and can take quite a toll on you.
RW has put an enormous amount into CAS Trust and (other than allowing the acronym CAST to be used
) hasn’t put a foot wrong until now. He still gets my vote. 11 -
Could not believe it when I saw it this morning. If you had asked me which member of the Trust Board was least likely to say something that would wind me up it would be Richard.
An ordinary fan would simply be ignored, Richard though spoke as Chair of our Supporters Trust. This cannot be ignored0 -
The trust should do a survey asking fans if Bowyer should apologise for his actions as a youth. : - )11

Bowyer Out!1

People making public statements are open to criticism and it's perfectly valid to form a view on the statement.
It isn't at all valid to slag Richard in the way some have done on here. He's a top bloke, one of the nicest fellas you'll ever meet and - even as Trust chair - is entitled to an opinion. I imagine there's been some editing that hasn't been kind, but even if not I don't see he's intending to speak for the Trust or its members.
What he says may be accurate. Bowyer may of course consider that he has nothing to apologise for - after all, that was his beef with Leeds - and perhaps Richard might have been more politic given the timing.
But I can't accept the insults aimed at him - way way off the mark.16
