Congratulations Ademola Lookman

He's a goalscorer. Already scored 5 in the Bundesliga, playing in a new country, in a new team, probably no speaking the language etc.golfaddick said:fwiw......
I thought Lookman is decent but & more in the Konsa/Poyet bracket than the Gomez/Shelvey/Parker one.
Still only 20. Think how well he could do playing regularly in a settled side.
If he gets a chance I don't think an England cap will be far away. For me he's comfortably in that Gomez/Shelvey/Parker bracket.15 -
Yes correct, i meant fees they've gone for throughout their career.stackitsteve said:
True but I think Chris was asking about total transfer fees, including all future sales etcgolfaddick said:
We didn't get a fee for Defoe. Not directly - W Ham may have been ordered to pay us something in the end but nowhere near the £3m odd we gor for Gomez & certainly no sell-ons.Chris_from_Sidcup said:
Definitely.Dazzler21 said:I disagree with that Golf, I think Lookman would be somewhere in-between the two groups.
I'd have him a lot closer to the "successful" lot.
Am i right in thinking that he'll only be behind Parker and Defoe in terms of total transfer fees of our exports?
Defoe sold for a total of £44 million (roughly) throughout his career
I'm pretty sure Defoe and Parker are the top 2. Lookman will probably beat them both though given the way transfer fees are these days.0 -
Shelvey is the odd one out. Lookman should be classed in the Gomez/Parker bracket. Shelvey in the middle. Konsa/Poyet below8
-
Good that Lookman is not leaving before Thursday's deadline - I cannot bear the thought of Duchatelet hoovering up any sell-on fee.ForeverAddickted said:Marco Silva has apparently said that Lookman is going no where this season
Can see a loan deal happening somewhere in January then!!
Hopefully Marco Silva will give Ademola a chance, although I don't suppose he's paid Watford £40million for that winger to sit on the bench.0 -
I'm not sure Shelvey belongs in the same bracket as Parker and Gomez.golfaddick said:fwiw......

If I was Lookman I would want guarantees of game time at this point. He was a regular at arguably a better team than Everton. To sit and rot on the bench will do nothing for him at this stage now he knows what that feels like at Leipzig.3

I've been impressed with how Lookman's filled out since leaving us. I remember saying that he had the upper body physique of a 14 year old schoolboy when he joined Everton but he's more like a well built middle weight now. My other criticism was that he didn't know what his best position was but from what I've seen from his time in Germany he's been successful playing in the hole behind the striker rather than deeper or out wide. All he needs now is to play for a club and manager that has faith in him and allows him to play in best position rather than somewhere that pushes out to the wing because it's the low risk/low reward option.1

He can be sold after Thursday to a team abroad1

With many clubs playing 1 lone striker in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 I'd say he's got to be one of the 2 or 3 attacking midfielders. He'd be comfortable out wide or through the middle.SantaClaus said:I've been impressed with how Lookman's filled out since leaving us. In a front 2 he could potentially play a similar role to Sterling for England, where he has the freedom to drop deep, drift wide or run in behind.1 -
Soooo Lookman isnt going anywhere yet Everton have now signed another winger in Bernard (Shakhtar) on a Free Transfer pending the medical!!
Yet their fans come out with comments "Well if he dont wanna be here let him go", sounds more like the club dont want him if they keep signing players in his position0 -
Once they have gone they have not gone though, they could still contribute financially to the club through tjeir sell on clauses. Pope allegedly has a 20% sell on clause, maybe Lookman has similar, so a decent sale to leipzig could bring us much needed funds. Of course, those funds may never see them released to the team under this ownership.SoundAsa£ said:Why all this interest in Lookman.....just another explayer as far as I’m concerned?
Once they’ve gone, they’ve gone and I personally have no more interest in them than I would any player at another club.....never understood folks interest in what ex players do after they leave us.
I suppose it’s something I learned to do as a kid many many years ago after Stuart Leary left us and countless others who’ve followed suit.....it’s the way I deal with the disappointment........I try to ignore them.
Not criticising others here but I do find the adoration/OTT interest in explayers careers a little strange.
Appreciate this is a football orientated site of course but over 600 posts about an explayer who likely doesn’t give a shyte about us does seem rather extraordinary to me.....how many more months/years will this go on for I wonder?
Ah well......we’re all different I guess.0 -
Not in the 18 man squad away at Wolves.0
-
He's been stiched up again. They already bought Tozen (sp) in Jan & now spent £40m on Richarlson. I believe they bought at least one more striker/winger as well.
best he seeks a loan deal back to Leipzig before Aug 31st.2 -
Think i read that he had a slight injury, but i wouldn't be surprised if Leipzig come back with a new offer for him.
However, premier league football is a squad game these days and they have Richarlison, Bernard, Walcott and Lookman for the wide positions so he should surely get some games. Walcott did absolutely nothing yesterday and is clearly only getting a game based on his name.0 -

Going to be tricky to fight for his place when not even on the bench!1 -
get out now mate0

Talking about him on Talksport and why Everton are holding him back by not playing him and not letting him leave.
A caller just called up and said Lookmans attitude is disgusting and he didnt look interested when warming up against Wolves.
Doesnt sound like Lookman to me, maybe he was told he wasnt coming on and thats why he wasnt warming up properly5 -
But not in his 20s. Parker lost his way at much the same age as Jonjo did. If Jonjo walks the walk this season I still think he will end up with more England caps over his career than Parker. The Red Robin said:

As for Lookman if I were him i'd apply for German citizenship. And I'm only half joking.

True. Parker losing his way was his own fault though.PragueAddick said:

I dont think he was on the bench against Wolves. I dont know if all the 25 man squad sit on the"bench" nowdays in the Prem, but I dont believe he was in the 18 man playing squad & so even if he was "earming up" he weren't ever going on.paulie8290 said:Talking about him on Talksport and why Everton are holding him back by not playing him and not letting him leave.

The bloke said that he wasnt warming up properly and was only walking and not stretching, thats why Calvert Lewin came on instead of him lol
Looking at it I am assuming he meant Southampton not Wolves and he was on the bench for that0 -
Did we bother with a sell on clause?0

Everton.
Please don't sell Lookman.
If you do, and Charlton are due a sell on bonus because you met your fee target, take a leaf from Duchatelet's book and simply refuse to pay it...he will understand.3
