Are you serious? There’s plenty of life in this old horse yet. OK we’ve had poetry but no-one has touched on opera yet. There have been house, car and shop selling analogies, but at no point has anyone likened the sale of the club to a surrogate pregnancy, and subsequent sale of the child. I’m looking forward to the next 1000 pages.
Not to mention the many and varied tangents of which the 17th century Belgian ambassador was a particular favourite of mine although I would perhaps question that it would have been Flanders at the Court of St James in the 17th century rather than Belgium which only came into being in the early 19th century.
See what fun can be had - cue puns based on late medieval and/or post-medieval historical research and/or the Simpsons (Ned Flanders - geddit!).
no, this can run and run and beats the hell out of reading endless and desperate clutching at straws posts about a takeover (sorry AFKB).
Surely the ambassador would have been a representative of the Habsburg King of Spain, rather than anyone representing Flanders.
They passed to Habsburg Austria in 1715.
Interestingly enough, or possibly not, 16th Century Spain considered Irish people to be equivalent to native-born subjects, for the first half of the Century, the Habsburg lands were probably the most attractive destination for (mostly Gaelic) Irish seeking careers and distinction, and fleeing the consolidation of the various Plantations of Ireland (a Government policy which we can all agree has led to nothing but joy and happiness all round in the succeeding Centuries).
This thread will grow by 1000 pages when it does happen...
I think this thread has the propensity to go into the realm of theoretical physics whereby we reach infinity and cannot explain what is happening, why it’s happening and it’s simply beyond human understanding.
Usmanov interested in Everton or Bayern Munich or AC Milan or Roma. So I think lil old Charlton is a bit below his radar.
His smartest move would be to buy Newcastle. None of the other clubs would be interested, really.
Seen a lot of reports about him investing in Everton because he's good friends with Moshiri, but yes i agree Newcastle would be a decent investment for him as he'd have complete ownership.
Not much point him investing in Bayern. Firstly they already buy the best German players and win the league every season. Secondly, they still have the 50+1 rule there which means he currently couldn't own more than 49% of them.
Posts on this thread get less and less frequent by the day. I think most people seem to have given up all hope of a takeover in this transfer window, which means it'll likely now be 5 more months, if at all this season.
Heard anything new from the Aussies @JamesSeed ? .
Loads yeah. They’re bombarding me with calls and texts to such an extent that I’ve had to change my mobile number. I just wish they’d leave me alone :-(

Just the kind of post I need at the start of the day mate! I shall attempt to delve deeper into the machinations of the Flemish ambassador! By the way, let me know when (or if) you are next coming up for a game.

Paulie will start a new one.
My garden looked like that last week. Luckily it has rained over the weekend .
"Barnsley Football Club's CEO sent a letter of support to a fan suffering from depression.
What an amazing gesture from the club"

page 1234 is the big one.
That is when the takeover will be confirmed on the OS
LOCKED ON FACT DONE DEAL*
*maybe subject to change or cancellation
I’m clinging to the hope that if the deal was definitely off we would have seen an official statement released by now.
I just wish they’d leave me alone :-(
