  • Ref - 6 made a few dubious calls but mostly got it right which seems increasingly rare

Steer - 7 couple of good saves, great distribution for the first goal, couple of dodgy kicks out

Djiksteel - 5 was ok but didn’t look very comfortable at times against a fairly poor side

Pearce - 7 did well, good defender, leader, would play at higher level if younger or could pass better

Bauer -7 once or twice ball work a bit rusty but overall getting back to best already

Solly - 7 should really be a 6 but I’m adding on a mark for him playing left back again which really is t his position at all

Lapslie - 6 ran around a lot, few good touches but not very incisive today

Ward - 8 including a half mark for the timewasting. Nicely taken goal, looked difficult to deal with all game

Bielik - 6 one amazing turn, didn’t notice him the rest of the game

Aribo - 6 couple of rabbit in the the headlight moments but a couple of good crosses and a goal

Grant - 7 quick and difficult to deal with. Didn’t always time his runs well but nice composure for the third

Ajose - 6 slightly frustrating again, just not quite on it yet

Fosu - 5 look I’ve got quick feet, round one, through two, lost it again.

Hadn’t seen Henry irving’s crush play before but he looks like he might be a bit useful.
  • Ref 7.5

Steer 8.5 MOTM The new Ederson
Dijksteel 6.5 solid but unspectacular, some dodgy passes, good cross for 2nd goal
Pearce 6 beaten in the air for their goal, stupid booking, liked his go at being a winger
Bauer 7 a large and reassuring display from a large and reassuring gentleman
Solly 6.5 this wrong side lark doesn't really suit him
Lapslie 5.5 he just didn't affect the game
Ward 7 good goal and plenty of hustle, also plenty of overhit through-balls
Bielik 6.5 not sure about him in midfield but at least he's a dominating presence
Aribo 7 has the 'poacher' attribute - very valuable
Grant 6.5 has the 'running towards open goal' attribute - also very valuable, I guess
Ajose 7 loads of effort, good link-ups and threat from him, shouldn't take set-pieces

  • Referee: 7 - Not a bad game, some dubious decisions but better than most

Steer: 8 - Not just for the assist but for that tip over the bar at the end!!... Winning save that was!!
Dijksteel: 6 - Should have closed his man down more, wasnt impressed again today
Pearce: 7 - Good steady game, loved the way he ignored the referee when booked
Bauer: 6.5 - Not bad but slowly coming back from injury so will let him off
Solly: 7 - Loved his rugby tackle style booking; solid game from him
Lapslie: 6 - He'll have better games but enjoy his tireless running
Ward: 8 - Lovely finish!!... Nice performance
Bielik: 6 - Would have been given a 5 for his first half performance, got in the way a bit at times
Aribo : 7.5 - Real key figure in the midfield, deserved his goal
Grant: 7 - Nice composure for his goal, typical performance for someone who has rejuvinated their Charlton career
Ajose: 7 - I thought he played well, real team effort and put in some good set pieces (better than most)

Fosu: 5 - Barely noticed him today
    Marshall: 6 - Decent cameo
Hackett-Fairchild: 6 - Erm did he touch the ball?

Ref 4 starts with B rhymes with Hellend, let them get away with loads (really surprised the marks he's getting!)

Steer 9 motm some great saves and what an assist
Dijksteel 5 looked vulnerable down his side
Pearce 7.5 great leader yelling like mad at their corners at the end
Bauer 8 so glad to have him back
Solly 7 outdone a few times but generally okay
Lapslie 6.5 put himself about but a little naive at times
Ward 8 loves the first time pass and lovely finish sometimes doesn't come off for him
Bielik 7 still guilty of occasionally overplaying but looks class at all other times
Aribo 8 got stuck in and won is possession so often just wish he'd shoot more!
Grant 7 not his most impressive display but good for the goal at the end
    Ajose 6.5 better than usual

Fosu some good turns but not quite there yet
    Marshall good running
    Hackett-Fairchild he's quite tall

  • Steer 9 MOM. Brilliant assist and one game changing save. Distribution excellent all game.

Dijksteel 6 - solid but lost a mark for not closing down their goal scorer when everyone was baying at him to do so.

Pearce - 7. Some scary moments but you’d miss him if he wasn’t there.

Bauer 7. Generally solid and good to have him back.

Solly 7. Solid. Extra mark for continuing to serve out of position. But please please stop backing off your man.

Lapslie 5.5. Not really getting all the man love. Great effort but looks like a headless chicken to me.

Ward 8. A complete pest all game and brilliant anticipation for his goal.

Bielik 7. Thought he looked a class above with the odd slip up thrown in, generally because he is a class above and no one reads what he is going to do an give him an outlet.

    Aribo. 6.5. Hot and cold.

Grant 5. Tried hard but not half the player without Lyle next to him

Ajose 3. Imposter. Can’t hnderstand all the positive reviews. Thought he was utter chuff.

    Dijksteel 6.5 went forward
    Pearce 7 usual
Bauer 6.5 gave the ball away on occasions
Solly 5.5 worried me slightly, their winger was pacey
Lapslie 6 got tired second half
Ward 8 was a constant nusciance and took goal well
Bielik 7 won a lot of balls
    Aribo 7.5 was a handful
Grant 7.5 pace tired them out
    Ajose 6.5 better performance

    Ref 6

Steer - 8.5 Two excellent saves in each half and an assist.
Dijksteel - 6 Some sloppy passing.
    Pearce - 8 Captain fantastic.
Bauer - 7 Dealt with Payne well.
Solly - 7 Kept up with their no.2 Leadbitter.
Lapslie - 7 Battled in midfield.
Ward - 7 took his goal well, should have shot instead of passing behind Grant late on and gets in a lot of unnecessary aggro.
Bielik - 6 Clumsy in parts.
Aribo - 7 Steady and scored.
Grant - 7 Missed the partnership with Taylor but couldn’t miss that 3rd.
Ajose - 6 Needed to be a bit sharper at times.

Crossbar challenge taker - 5 he should stick to film reviews....... ;-)

    Solly 7 Decent

    Ref - 8

Steer: 8.5 - Said it before will say it again, it's those moments of keeping concentration when he hasn't had a lot to do that makes him a good keeper at this level. Worldy of an assist.

Dijksteel - 7 - Thought he gets caught narrow and a bit flatfooted for their goal but otherwise very solid and a good ball in that led to Aribo's goal.

    Pearce - 7.5 - Solid. Silly booking.

    Bauer 7.5 - Standard.

    Solly - 7.5 - He's been good at LB

Lapslie - 6.5 - Put himself about. Nothing spectacular but good work.

Ward - 8 - Some real moments of quality from him. Still think he lets his temper get the best of him at times but a good performance.

Bielik - 7.5 - At times sloppy in possession but he's such a skillful player and he won the ball a lot.

Aribo - 7 - Good poacher's goal. Looked good going forward, not great defensively.

Grant - 7 - Did well to do his best to play with his back to goal. Not brilliant, but put in a shift.

Ajose - 7 - Good work from him. He seems to be the new scapegoat, which is unfortunate. I think it's his first league start of the season. He and Grant are not a great foil for each other but they did alright. Set pieces were very hit and miss.

Fosu - 6.5 - Good control and ball for the third. Beyond that did decently to defend down the left but nothing spectacular.

Marshall - 6- Didn't have time to do much.

Steer 7.5 Excellent couple of key saves, great assist for the first goal
Dijksteel 6 A bit of a mixed bag today
    Pearce 7 Solid
Bauer 7 Good first league game since injury
    Solly 7 Usual good display
Lapslie 6 Works hard but caught out of position at times. Missed a good chance.
Ward 8 A pest of a player that you like to see in your side and not the opposition's
Bielik 5 Poor, too many mistakes surprisingly for him
Aribo 7.5 Close between him and Ward for mom.
    Grant 7 Deserved his goal
Ajose 6 A mixed bag from him today
  • Ref 5

Steer 8 (+1 for the assist which was Hameresque)
Dijksteel 6.5 (one of his better games for us)

    Bauer 6
    Solly 6
    Lapslie 6
Ward 7.5 (+ 1 for the goal which was really well taken)
Bielik 5 (3 or 4 times he lost the ball in really dangerous positions, against better opposition he could have cost us 1 or more goals)
    Aribo 6.5
    Grant 6.5
    Ajose 6.5

    Fosu 5.5
  • Ref - 5

Steer - 7 (2 great saves which gave us the win on 38 minutes and 88 minutes)
Dijksteel - 6 seemed to make more mistakes than most
    Pearce - 5 stupid booking
    Bauer - 6
    Solly - 6
Lapslie - 8 Good game. Looks promising

Thought our midfield of Lapslie, Ward, Bielik and Aribo was strong by League One standards despite our missing both Forster-Caskey and Reeves.
