It’s very easy to say ‘it wouldn’t be allowed to happen elsewhere!’ but without an example to back that up, I don’t see the logic.
If we cant cope with a drone issue, what if Gatwick got under siege? i know its a completely different kettle of fish but it does seem to your average person this has been dragged out and poorly handled.

If keeping the airport shut had no negative consequences I wouldn't want bullets to be fired into the air but clearly that isn't the case.Dazzler21 said:

Must be difficult for the authorities to do anything until they've found the culprits.
If anybody pronounced "it's probably safe now" and a waiting drone suddenly appeared and downed a plane there would be hell to pay!3 -

It isn't political, it is common sense that is more of an army thing than a police thing. So many people's Christmases have been ruined and whilst the main culprit is the idiot/s doing it, this shouldn't have lasted as long as it has. I bet you that the board/managment of the airport does contingency planning and if this isn't on their list, you have to despair.
BTW, it is essential they catch the bastard/s and even if they turn out to have some personality issues, it shouldn't negate their sentence.1 -

It happened in May at Stansted. Pilots have been warning about it for years, so you would expect better preparation. Maybe those who have lost money and holidays can sue if incompetence is proven.0
