    Will boycotters return?
I’ve just been informed my bestie is going today.
She’s not set foot inside the Valley since Douchbag bought us & she’s second generation CAFC. I honestly didn’t see that coming.
    Me?
I’m all aboard the Shrewsbury bus, until he’s officially gone I’m staying in West Cork.

Boycotters will return - lapsed supporters will need more encouragement. There are almost certainly a lot more of the latter than the former.
This ... I’m sitting here with my credit card waiting for the announcement. It’s going to be incumbent on the current supporters and boycotters to entice the lapsed supporters out of their hibernation #TeamWIOTOS
  • Christ. Just how disappointing is this going to be if it’s just another false dawn.

Not been there for years , seriously is that London Bridge , looks amazing !
Is there still that sticky little boozer next door to the ticket office where the station split and you had to show tickets to get to platforms heading towards Sidcup, bexleyheath etc
I cannot remember the name but I do remember the bloody thing did not have a toilet and you had to pop along to the concourse area to have a piddle.
    The Oasthouse, long gone
No bog, stunk of puke but had an ok jukebox.
So is that three stars or four?

This would be the worst, as it would mean at least another five months of Duch.

    Excellent post, @MuttleyCAFC.
It wont happen overnight, but it grew surprisingly fast last time - target 10,000 soon seemed unambitious. Years have passed and times are different, but interest in football is greater than ever it was, and the potential to rebuild the club to something approaching its former self surely remains to be unlocked. It requires simply that new owners take time to understand what makes CAFC special, engage with the club's demonstrably clever, creative and knowledgeable supporters, and build sensibly for sustainable success in the future.

It’s unrealistic to think it’s all going to be water under the bridge between certain groups of fans. Things have been said that can’t be taken back. But at the end of the day it really doesn’t matter because whatever angle you’re coming from regarding the RD ownership, once new owners take over it’s a clean slate from a football point of view and that’s why we’re all here. Hopefully everyone will do their individual bit to move things forward at last.

    You’re right of course Nug.
But those who have sought to cause division I didn’t particularly have time for pre Douchbag and as such avoided them at all costs.
    No change for me so.

Given his direct line to Roly I reckon he would have checked with him before sharing it. Hopefully means both sides are on the same page.

Charlton fans must and will all unite under the new owners to get us back to where we belong. We seem to have stumbled onto a good manager and assistant manager so that will make things easier. It seems a bit unfair, but the successful future is not about us whether we are boycotters or attenders but it is about those people out there who don't care as much as we do. Give them the product and we have seen what can be achieved.

My wife is not a great fan of football but when I first met her I took her to the Valley. This was during the period when the place was rocking. She didn't need to know anything about football, the rocking atmosphere was intoxicating. She wanted to go to every game. I pity the younger fans who have not experienced it. Sir Alex Ferguson commented once that it was one of the most intimidating places to go to. You came out of the place buzzing. The Valley can be one of the best arenas to watch football or one of the most depressing. We all need to do what little we can to get it back to the former. That might be just encouraging some mates to go along. We all do our bit and we will get back up there. COYRs.

Couldn’t agree more, I remember the very lean days at the Valley, Selhurt and Upton, where crowds of 5k plus were considered bumper, Let’s all unite under the new ownership and get this great club back to where it belongs 😊 Not long now !!!

My view on the boycott/attend debate is actually that over the period of RD's tenure we have as supporters, by accident, probably got it about right. I have been boycotting home games with the exception of protest matches, but I've really missed it and now can't wait to go back. I think that is largely a result of that Charlton feeling slowly returning over the last six to nine months. With LB and JJ in charge, academy products in the team, a degree of success on the pitch, a better style of football than we've seen for years, it's beccoming much easier to identify once again with OUR club.

I dont hold anything against those who have continued to attend, and despite not going myself, I have still wanted the team to be supported. I am sure that for most the decision to boycott or not has not been a black and white issue - it's a decision you make on balance, and one I have struggled with.

There will be a few exceptions, but I think we will soon put any divisions behind us under new ownership - after all, we all want success for CAFC and have a common goal. I dont see a need for a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

As long as anyone who was Pro Roland after the first year puts their hands up and apologises I have no problem moving on .
It takes a big person to admit they’re wrong .
    Just kidding

    I was wrong! 😉😂

Hold on so Jim White said it was going to be 24hrs, then 48hrs, then 72hrs, then Monday/Tuesday, now Tuesday/Wednesday?
He seems desperate to cover all bases and (almost) be the first to break the news....
Sounds like our regular FOMO on here.....

It’s that easy to get a random rumour going. People need to relax. We’ve been here so many times before.
    This with bells on

I would piss myself if it was the Atlassian blokes.
    Why?
Coz, what with the put downs by the self-appointed CL elders when the Atlassian guys were mentioned as 'it was a joke' or 'this is how fake news starts' or 'its definitely not them' to Airman now stating its American money - if it turns out that it is the Atlasssian blokes (regardless of how American you can make one of the them) would mean that basically everyone in the above category knows fuck-all really about whats going-on!
  • Just seen a guy in a 3 piece suit & tie, white haired, giving a talk to about 10-15 others in the Directors’ Box. Lots of hand gestures & gesticulating while pointing out various parts of the ground. He got an ovation at the end & they all headed off inside after lots of hand shaking. He did look a lot like Gerald Murphy. Maybe he was introducing other investors to the club?
